"Mark and sylva we're awesome. We stayed here a couple months. The appartments we stayed in we're all very well kept. The location was very convenient. We were a couple blocks from many nice restaurants and the farmers market. We had an opportunity arrise in the last month of our stay. Even tho we we're leaving Mark and sylva went way above and beyond to work with us on a forever changing departure date. So even if your from a small town like us. Mark and sylva will be sure to give you the small town hospitality that is very rare in this region of the country. We will definitely stay in touch."

"I had the pleasure of staying at 2164 5th Avenue in Troy, NY, one of the properties owned/managed by Menard Properties (a family business, and Slyva was my host) which I booked through AirBnB (and you can read my review there as well). I was relocating for my work to Albany, and stayed there from March to April (5+ weeks). I really appreciated all the thoughtfulness that went into the appointments in the (very cool) apartment I was in, and but really appreciated Slyva's (and the other residents) help -- I was away from my husband and dogs in the grey of a Troy "spring", after moving from North Carolina, so my time there was made special by the engagement of my host. I own two rental properties myself out on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, so I know what good property management is - most of my renters return each summer as we go out of our way to make their time in our home as if it were there own, and Slyva does the same, I highly recommend these properties for both the excellent host and the absolute convenience to all things downtown Troy (great restaurants, Farmers market year around!, walk every where). "The apartment itself was lovely, but not $2100 lovely (the In-season rent...for 5th Ave...in Troy. They claim to be dog friendly, but I’m convinced that’s only so they can claim there was an abundance of dog hair after you move out as one of the reasons for Sylva to keep your deposit. Sylva (the landlord/owner) and her family live next door and are EXTREMELY nosy and intrusive. The day I moved out I spent 4 hours cleaning. A few days later I got an email from Sylva detailing all of the reasons I would not only not be getting my $1000 deposit back but that I owed them over $200 I had also pre-paid a non-refundable $85 cleaning fee. Sylva claimed there were cigarette scorch marks on bedding (there wasn’t), and as proof of this and other made up infractions sent photos, some of which weren’t even from the apt I stayed in. If you want to be taken in by fake-friendly Sylva then ultimately robbed of your deposit (and privacy the entire time you stay there) then this place is for you."
