"Overall this was a great place to live, even if only for a short amount of time. Everyone from the maintenance team is super responsive, competent, and friendly, and we always felt safe walking around the neighborhood. There is also a great network of nature trails off of Bonesteel Lane - unfortunately they're not labeled and there's no trail map but they're owned and maintained by the city of Brunswick. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is a big one though - we had ants from the first week until we moved out. It took us about a week to really move in and bring our cats home, but within a day or two the ants had found their food on the floor and crawled into their bowls. We lived on the first floor, so I imagine this isn't an issue for second floor units... But, the entire time we lived at Highland Creek we needed to keep our cats' food on the island so ants wouldn't get into it. And we also have a baby who leaves crumbs everywhere - so even though we vacuumed daily and tried our best to make sure nothing was around, it didn't matter. The ants found anything and everything. We put in maintenance requests and they commented about how the soil and area is prone to ants, but since we had a baby and pets they couldn't do much about it. They gave us ant traps and sprayed outside, but neither did much. Luckily the ants were small and we never saw anything else, but it's not fun to know something's lurking around and will find the tiniest crumb or piece of cat food. We hated leaving for vacation knowing there would be big groups of them out and about when we got back. Ant spray with cinnamon worked decently well though as a kid and pet friendly alternative, as long as you're vigilant."

"I love living here. I have been a resident going on 3 years now and I cant find anything to complain about. Its a quiet, peaceful neighborhood, kid friendly and pet friendly. Nice little area to exercise and take walks. Its the kind of place where you can leave your door unlocked and everyone is friendly and like-minded in terms of how they want to live."
