Good food/menu choices are equal to many hotels and served by great people, all of them supportive and help through the many choices. Hope to go home soon but have fond memories of the staff here.”

“Maternity review Excellent maternity care. I have had high risk pregnancies and the Consultants (Kate Harding, Anna Smith who have seen me) are amazing. The sonographers are really good too, kept me well informed through scans. I have had an awful experience at another hospital in the UK for maternity and changed back to St Thomas' straight away I felt well looked after and the midwives are really experienced (I was looked after by the wonderful Thames team). Would really recommend for maternity care. Thank you so much for all you go through to look after your patients.”

“Brilliant NHS service at Mount Vernon While I may have waited a good while to get an initial assessment at general surgery, once there I had a succinct appointment with a clear diagnosis and initial treatment plan. I then got a phone call the next day! (today) stating that there has been a few cancellations and would I like an appointment only next week for the next phase of assessment, very efficient. Having had issues with numb legs and back pain I was referred to St Albans City Hospital and was diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis and Spondylolisthesis I was seen quickly by Dr Bhalaji and team and put forward for surgery. The surgery wait time was very short and I have been given exceptional care by Dr Bhalaji and the orthopaedics team at St Albans City Hospital. I couldn’t ask for a more caring team and the information I was given regarding my condition and the benefits and risks of surgery were explained clearly and if I had any questions these were answered in a timely manner and in a supportive friendly way. “A very good experience across a number of visits. A relative of mine had their Hip replaced here, it was a completely different encounter to their NHS hip replacement. The surgery itself was far better, much less after care needed, anaesthetist was way better and they were home sooner. I've also been in on a couple of visits and it works like a well-oiled machine, hardly any waiting around. Such a shame NHS hospitals cant function as well as these places. It serves illustrate just how much reform the entire NHS needs if we want to repair it, money is not the magic bullet, the problems lie far deeper and are definitely not a simple.”

“For 3 years I've been dealing with a mild, chronic case of pericoronitis. After switching dentists I was referred to Guy's Hospital. The referral process took 3 months. Once I got my first visit, I got a CBCT scan and a second appointment all within 3 weeks. They discussed a lot of different options for me, which ones would be best, and why. Decided to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed under general anesthetic, and waited an additional 3 months for the surgery appointment. So in total, around 6 months from referral date to surgery. My appointment for surgery was at 15:00, but didn't reach the theatre until 18:15. The surgery itself went super smooth. I felt great after, and recovered at home on a liquid diet for a week, rinses, and alternating between ibuprofen and paracetamol. For reference, my teeth weren't that complicated and I have a high tolerance for pain The staff was absolutely wonderful. They gave my partner all the information needed for the recovery period, all the pain medication, and would have been available in case any side effects emerged. They also warmed me up with a tube under my blanket as soon as I woke up from the anesthesia, which felt great. I can't fault my experience at this hospital in any way. Waiting 3 hours past my appointment time was tough without food or water, and it's something I wasn't told or prepared for, but I know how busy and overworked hospitals are here, plus I was given IV fluids so I felt fantastic after the procedure. And sure, I waited 6 months from referral day, but I am very thankful I could get this done for free under our health care system. Were my case more serious, I think my waiting time would have been less. But either way, I'm super satisfied with my experience at the Dental department of Guy's hospital!”
