"Great hospital and friendly staff, especially for Dorcas ward who are great! Only negatives are that the food is terrible and that Patient Transportation Service are as useful as a chocolate teapot. They failed to give me transport back home despite myself having an operation a few days ago. Luckily, a staff nurse booked a private taxi for me."
"I have just had knee surgery at Guys and I cannot fault the team looking after me. From admissions to the surgical team, the nurses on the ward, the physiotherapists and the porters. They were all amazing. So caring and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they explained everything to me thoroughly. I attended my 6 week check up on Friday to see my consultant, Mr Alex Charalambous, he is so friendly and reassuring. I have to return tomorrow due to an infection and he has kindly slotted me in between other appointments. I feel very well looked after. 5 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"
"For 3 years I've been dealing with a mild, chronic case of pericoronitis. After switching dentists I was referred to Guy's Hospital. The referral process took 3 months. Once I got my first visit, I got a CBCT scan and a second appointment all within 3 weeks. They discussed a lot of different options for me, which ones would be best, and why. Decided to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed under general anesthetic, and waited an additional 3 months for the surgery appointment. So in total, around 6 months from referral date to surgery. My appointment for surgery was at 15:00, but didn't reach the theatre until 18:15. The surgery itself went super smooth. I felt great after, and recovered at home on a liquid diet for a week, rinses, and alternating between ibuprofen and paracetamol. For reference, my teeth weren't that complicated and I have a high tolerance for pain The staff was absolutely wonderful. They gave my partner all the information needed for the recovery period, all the pain medication, and would have been available in case any side effects emerged. They also warmed me up with a tube under my blanket as soon as I woke up from the anesthesia, which felt great. I can't fault my experience at this hospital in any way. Waiting 3 hours past my appointment time was tough without food or water, and it's something I wasn't told or prepared for, but I know how busy and overworked hospitals are here, plus I was given IV fluids so I felt fantastic after the procedure. And sure, I waited 6 months from referral day, but I am very thankful I could get this done for free under our health care system. Were my case more serious, I think my waiting time would have been less. But either way, I'm super satisfied with my experience at the Dental department of Guy's hospital!"
"After going to my dentist on numerous occasions this year with wisdom teeth complications and not having them extracted when they really needed to be, I got an emergency 111 appointment at Guy’s Hospital. Hats off to every member of staff I encountered whilst there, from friendly reception staff, student dentists and my surgeon Ellie. You were all incredibly kind and put me at ease. I had two wisdom teeth extracted within a short amount of time (I was very lucky to have a cancellation appointment otherwise I may have had to wait around to have the surgery or to come back the next day). I was informed about what would happen every step of the way and the aftercare. Thank you. I would recommend St Guy’s Hospital Dental Department without hesitation and wish I’d of done this sooner. Bring on the recovery now!"
"Purpose for visiting was for dental. Very polite receptionists and dental team. Area A is the area I was directed to. Its labelled clearly. The dental area is a very large room/hall with lots of cubicles. We visited floor 22. There is a reception upon entering the hospital, which can guide you on where to go. There's also a little open shop to buy whatever you like. Travelling: one of the easiest routes to reach by car. There is disabled badge parking right outside the hospital. However, I'm not sure for normal parking. Don't forget you have to pay congestion charge. I would recommend getting on a train. There's a lot to see with beautiful views of the city."
