“Can't beat a National Trust cuppa! Unlike many NT cafés Kedleston operates table service. Attractive peacock fan menus and prettily framed table numbers are set out in an airy, high ceilinged former kitchen, with original features apparent. Some tables are on the lawn outside for good weather dining. A limited but interesting hot meal selection with specials board. Lovely service.”

“We went for afternoon tea as a January treat. Our waitress Trudy was lovely and very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Tea was served on tiered stands. A good selection of sandwiches, small cakes and of course scones. All delicious.”

“Really good city center bar that manages to retain a local pub feeling. Excellent selection of alcoholic drinks both cask and keg including tap takeovers/brewery showcases, nice range of continental and craft bottles and cans. Food is provided by El Contador and is Mexican street food, it's also absolutely superb. The brisket tacos are probably the best I've ever had and you get 3 per portion which is really good value; however, between 5 and 9 on a Tuesday you get 2 portions for £10... which is outstanding value. The outside area is small but perfectly decent, the roof terrace is good but you can't smoke or vape on it. Staff are all really nice and friendly. The DBC app is a genius idea, all food and drinks are ordered and payed via it, it's fast, efficient and should probably be copied by other places.”

“We travelled to Derby for the day and were delightfully surprised to find a Japanese restaurant. We started with some cocktail orders where the staff were very attentive and offered some recommendations. The drinks were very nice. We ordered the Chicken Gyoza and the Takoyaki to start, both dishes came much quicker than first anticipated. The Gyoza were fried, but perfectly crispy to a point where they were still soft. The flavours were good and the accompanying sauce paired very well. The takoyaki were a real treat, a beautifully cooked batter full of flavour and covered in a pair of sauces that fit the dish perfectly. We both then ordered the duck and plum sauce 'Kamo duck' bento box. This also arrived pretty quickly. The sauce was amazing, and the duck was melt in the mouth. The salad was fresh and seasoned really well, salad doesn't have to be boring it was very tasty. The rice was perfectly cooked, sticky and fluffy. But wait, let's get back to the sauce because I cannot understate how good the sauce was with the accompanying duck. I was ready to charge into the kitchen and attempt to steal any form of supply they had of it. All in all, it was a fantastic dive into the world of Japanese cuisine. The staff tried to be very attentive, the place may need a little more work but they are definitely capable of doing so much. A very expansive menu with a lot to offer. We'll definitely return if we're in the area again. If there was a greater demand for Japanese food, I can see this restaurant doing great things. Thank you Moonsha, hope to see you again. PS. “Lovely place to visit. Came with the family. Friendly staff and inviting, unlike it use to be as never really felt welcome. The kids cinema room and colouring area went down a treat as did the outside play area. The food was lovely quality and we didn't have to wait long for food between each serving. The decor was lovely and went well as a theme. The staff were very helpful and couldn't have done anymore to welcome us.”

The portions are very reasonable for the price to start with, and they're definitely delicious and authentic. “Excellent and safe experience. The greeter very clearly explained the COVID procedures when we arrived and these were adhered to by all diners. Very impressed with all of the food we ordered. 10/10 for meatball starters, Lasagne, Salmon Penne pasta and Chocolate Fudge cake. My wife said it was the best Fudge cake she had ever tasted. The service provided by Callum was first class, he was so efficient, accommodating and friendly. Very clean Restaurant.”
