"Move Here if u want everything you have stolen. Holes in the siding and management will walk in your place with no notice. When it snows no sidewalks get done.just asking for a lawsuit. There are mail boxes and cars getting robed every week. Also has the worst communication. Lots of mice and rodents very dirty place"
"We definitely had problems with this apartment complex while we lived there for 2 years. Mostly all of our packages would get stolen. We had management and maintenance walk into our apartment on multiple occasions without permission or atleast giving us 24 hour notice. One time including while my boyfriend was in the shower. There were no locks on the main entrance doors, so anyone could walk into the building when ever they please... which they definitely did.. including strangers who just walked around the outside area aimlessly. Our garbage disposal would break a lot and flood the sinks and kitchens in the apartment downstairs. There were only 2 washers and 2 dryers for the whole building.. which lead to people touching your clothes and taking things out and setting them on a dryer.. even if your machine just went off a few minutes before. And you always had to pay rent with a check or money order. They did not have an online payment system. So we had to go get money orders every month instead of doing it conviently online. And all of this happened... WHILE I was pregnant. But I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because I liked how spacious it was and that there were lofts."
"This is the first apartment that I have lived by myself and I'm thoroughly impressed by the place. Even though it is right off 120th and Dodge, it is still a quiet and peaceful place. I have never had any problems with noisy neighbors and actually my neighbors are quite friendly. Maintenance is awesome at responding repairs. For the first time, in 2 years of living here at Lake Candlewood, I had a leaking ceiling and not even an hour later there was a knock on my door saying that it had been fixed! Also, I have lived at other apartments with friends and the places would always be charging us with extra fees and upping our rent. Not here at Lake Candlewood, I pay a flat $620 every month (not a penny more). I would highly recommend this place."
"Unfriendly manager and low quality apartments. I rented from this complex back in 2015 and was reluctant to write a public review right away knowing these apartments get references from each other, partly to scare away honest reviews like this I suspect. The unit I started off in was ok. The HVAC fan was extremely old/loud to the point I would choose to keep it intermittently turned off just to hear my TV for a few hours. Maintenance would only tighten it but did nothing to replace. However, when a neighbor moved above me it went down hill from there. This neighbor would wear large boots and stomp around right above my bedroom all night and the noise transfer was so bad I had to stay over with friends and family for the duration of my stay at that unit. I complained to Nancy about this and she never attempted to talk to the tenant, just acted like this was normal. I did attempt to knock and leave a note with the tenant and he never changed or contacted me. Neighbors here are very unfriendly. I ended up transferring to another unit that was just as bad. The fridge was ridiculous old and made a constant loud noise all day long that made the living room not relaxing at all. They have a few buildings that are right next to 90th street, regardless if you face the street directly or not you will not get sleep in those buildings on 120th, the traffic noise is insane. Air borne noise between walls is just as bad in all the buildings. You can hear people have sex, throwup, etc between the walls. The whole "these are old buildings so they're built well to block sound" is just total BS. When I approached Nancy saying I wanted to proceed with breaking my lease having tried to give this place a 2nd shot, she proceeded to insult me in front of her co-worker, which I was shocked by. But I still complied with all their requirements on breaking their lease including all the fees and was respectful on my end. It was really me who was the losing party, not Nancy since I'm paying you the property manger to leave the complex. When I moved on with my life with a new apartment, they of course contacted Nancy as part of their background check. Despite the fact that Nancy could not say anything specific I did wrong, she still put 'No' on if she would rent with me again. Extremely unprofessional and immature property manager, even my new property manager was taken a back by that and this whole story I told her. Some overall things to consider also. They have no microwave, pretty basic but you have to bring your own. Several hallways will smell like cigarettes. When I had my initial showing, the guy who took me to a "vacant" unit instead to me to an occupied unit by accident. Also the name "Lake" Candlewood is misleading. The lake is only visible from one side of the complex and its not like the apartment is right there on the lake. There is a townhome association instead that actually encircles the lake and even siting on one of the lake's benches is considered trespassing if you're not a townhome association member. You also have to pay higher rent to be in a unit that actually sees the lake which is kind of lame to do to tenants. Also Nancy does a terrible job of following her own office hours. I wasted time on a number of occasions to visit only to see her not there as her office hours said she should be. Nancy is not connected to a property management company that I'm aware of so alot of the stuff she does with customers I suspect just goes without consequence considering there's no form of repercussion. I would stick to places like Raintree, Whispering Hills or Tranquility Pointe if you can in that area. They're mainly run by a full team of managers and their rates are worth it as you also get your own washer/dryer too."
"outside of living in a dorm at college and buying a house, this is the only apartment ive lived in. the lady who ran the place ruled with an iron fist. we recived a noise complaint with a total of 4 people over durring the super bowl AT 730 PM!!! it was our first warning. we recived another for a birthday party which was out fault, ill admit it. the mowing service chipped up my truck and my girl friends car. they took no responibility for it and would not contact the mowing company either. our cars were broken into, vandelised, and parking was limited at best. my roomates late father moved in with us who was terminaly ill. one weekend my roomate had a few friends over that got out of hand and they were asked to leave. when they left they were being loud in the parking lot. we were evicted after a matter that was out of our hands. the pool was poorly maintained, garages were crappy, no power no lights. over priced. hands down the lease likely place i would recomend anyone to live. look elsewhere. Thanks Dan Hamilton - former renter."
