"I would not recommend leasing with them. We have another tenant of our building that we do not know sleeping in the hallways of the building by our door and trying to actively get into our apartment. We have shown management videos and photos of this and the best they could do is tell us that if it happens during their office hours we can call them. They also shut off our kitchen sink for 5 days and even after calling to ask why it was still shut off were told they couldn’t do anything about it. So we were unable to wash our dishes or even run our dishwasher or garbage disposal this whole time."
"Parents - do NOT rent from this company. Not only did they not clean the apartment on move in day, but the fireplace was not working, nor the stove. We had to call the office several times. They did not answer our calls. If you need to speak to someone you have to press he "lease an apartment" option to get them to pick up. This is the worst experience in property management. They make you pay if a drain is plugged (even though it was plugged on move in day). There is zero customer service and the maintenance department is clueless and a waste of time. We had to call MidAmerican twice for a horrible gas smell. MidAmerican called the fire department. Again, nothing was done. Our problem. When we reached out to the gal who runs the office (Chantrice) she spouted off some mean comments and basically took no ownership for ANY of the problems. The maintenance department again was not answering the fire departments calls and lied to them. Several times they have been called and either have done nothing or done the bare minimum. I often wonder who the owners are and how they are okay with this terrible customer service. Lucas and Brent have been okay to work with but feel they are caught up in poor management. Take your money somewhere else. You will be very unhappy with the lack of management here. BEWARE you have been warned."
"First of all, I think in college towns, you have to have reasonable expectations regarding places to live. That being said, Apartments at Iowa was a great place for our son to live for 3 years. The apartments were a nice size and nicely updated, the parking was under the building in a secure lot, and the areas around the buildings he lived in were safe and walkable to campus. And whenever there was a problem, our son would contact Chantrice or Brent and they helped him in a timely manner. We would definitely recommend A@I-- just know that you need to take pictures at move-in so you won't be charged for pre-existing damage at move-out. Thanks for everything, Chantrice and Brent! Hope you're having a great year!"
"Truly despicable people with no heart and a cyst on our iowa city community. It is incredibly unfortunate that they are one of the main real estate options in the iowa city downtown area. Truley a shameful company with questionable legal practices. They refused to fix our dishwasher which did not run properly and had clogged moldy vents. On top of that water would accumulate at the bottom, smelling like rotten eggs. We put in FIVE maintenance request and they do nothing, they simply run the dishwasher and leave. We try calling and they don’t pick up the phone. So as of know we do not have a properly working dishwasher which was an advertised amenity that they are legally required to up keep and maintain. These people make me sick."
"The apartment is not worth the rent and the landlord and entire company do not care and are completely unwilling to help. My A/C DIDN'T WORK when I moved in, all DRAINS WERE CLOGGED, numerous OUTLETS DON’T WORK and those that do spark. There have been PROBLEMS WITH FRUIT FLIES AND CARPET BEETLES. Carpet around the edge of the kitchen completely lifts up and is not tacked down, the underneath is full of dirt and dust of course just like under the fridge and oven when I moved in. LITERALLY ANY KEY YOU PUT IN THE LOBBY DOOR OPENS IT AND LETS YOU UP TO THE APARTMENTS ABOVE, so the lock is just for show. I have been sent charges on several occasions that either have no explanation at all, or are sent with threats from the landlord about “maintaining positive tenant-landlord relations” despite the charges in question not being the tenant’s responsibility. Like another reviewer, MY CAR HAS BEEN BROKEN INTO IN ONE OF THEIR GARAGES THAT I PAY $1,500 A YEAR TO PARK IN. I reached out and NEVER GOT A RESPONSE. The police officer who filed my report was able to pick the lock to the garage door with a pocket knife in under ten seconds. There are signs in the garage claiming there’s surveillance, however, I cant find any cameras. One of the two washing machines shared between almost 20 units in the building has been BROKEN FOR TWO MONTHS despite numerous maintenance requests. It is full of water that will not drain and smells rancid. I resigned for the next year early into my first lease, and upon the arrival date of the next lease term, I WAS RESENT A COPY OF THE ALREADY RESIGNED LEASE WITH THE OLD RENT PRICE CROSSED OUT AND A NEW RENT PRICE NEXT TO IT THAT WAS $100 MORE PER MONTH WITH THEM ASKING ME TO RESIGN AGAIN. Feels illegal. So excited for my next lease year of adventures with apartments at iowa."
