The Des Moines Building

"Deeply unsatisfied with my time at the Des Moines building. Air and heat were out the first month I was there and the problem wasn’t resolved for WEEKS. Management is never in the office. I had to move from my apartment 8 months into my lease due to personal issues. I paid my remaining lease off and discussed with management about adding a roommate so I could hopefully get some of the money back (considering I was paying 795 a month for a place I wasn’t living in). They denied person after person for “credit reasons” which was completely ridiculous to me considering I had paid the lease off in full. I understand having to take precautions but they had their money either way. I just recently received my move out summary and on top of keeping my 400$ deposit they are charging me an additional 350. I lived there for only 8 months and the things they are charging me for seem completely ridiculous. 350$ charge for smoke smell when I’m not a smoker, 100 trash removal when there was maybe 2 boxes left behind, 20$ drop pan removal?? Not even sure what that means. 125$ cleaning fee. I’ll admit it wasn’t epic and spam but it wasn’t a complete mess. I would assume and HOPE they clean every apartment before renting out again regardless so I find it totally ridiculous that I would pay that. I will try disputing charges and update based off that but I am no frustrated with my time spent here. They refuse to work with you and charge you insane prices for what I would think to be normal wear and tear. Also all five star reviews on here are because of the endless signs posted around the building saying “leave a 5 star review and win a gift basket”"

"I have lived at the Des Moines building for a few months and I love the experience they have given me. From the nice lady at the desk to help me move in, with the on time and always around the o'clock maintenance staff to fix whatever issue we have. I enjoy the convenience of the nearby stores and accessible by the Skywalk on the 2nd floor. I hope to see new things added to the rooms below that are empty, and I hope to stay at the Des Moines building for years to come"

"I moved downtown in April, choose the Des Monies building because it was close to work. I am glad I did, Emily in the leasing office has been so helpful, apartments are nice, view from the rooftop is amazing. Everyone I have met in the elevators are friendly and nice, Even their pets, lol,, and I’m not a pet person myself. I would definitely recommend The Des Moines Building to my friends."

"Great place to stay! My favorite part about living here is the roof top. Being able to hang out, grill, and chill by a fire is the best, especially with a view!! So far I've been here almost a year and have had no issues with the building or staff that was not quickly resolved. I do recommend! Management has changed to a new company since most of the last reviews. But personally, I've enjoyed it here."
