Hilton Des Moines Downtown

"We came up for an event and had until 12pm for check out. We took some things to our car and visited the event. But left the rest for our final sweep of the room and a potty break before leaving and checking out. We got back to our room at 11:20am to find the remaining items in our room missing and the room had been cleaned. At no point did we check out! I see that as a complete violation of the parameters of the room stay. When asked about the missing item, only 1 small cooler bag had been reported and the other claimed to have been thrown in the trash along with several containers of uneaten slices of cheesecake from the cheesecake factory! The second bag was filled with our sons baby bottles and chew ice packs. When talking with the front desk, we were told the same thing, that likely the other items were thrown away. Once pressing the issue further, the "trashed" cooler bag was located and then said it was put in the lost and found. No, I think not! If that was in the "lost and found," then why weren't both bags located together!? They took $50 off the total bill but this has totally put me off this hotel and all sister hotels going forward. If their staff go into rooms when guest still have their items "safe" inside and are then able to "trash/take" whatever they want!!!! It's totally unacceptable!!!!"

"My stay here was good overall, however I did leave a shirt behind in the closet of the room I was staying in. When I called back I couldn’t get the staff to check the room initially. After a quick phone call with another staff member the issue was resolved immediately. I didn’t leave a great review to begin with, however this quick call made my experience so much better. Suffice to say, I am very pleased and would highly recommend this location for any personal or business stays."

"Very clean and quiet.the staff is professional and polite. Nice view on the Capitol and downtown if you have the right room. Very close by walking distance from any place downtown. I find the hotel a bit too "hygienic" too my taste,missing charm. The gym is missing very useful tools such as mats for workouts on the floor and there is no more bottle of water available."

"Our company had our Christmas party this past weekend and we stayed at the Hilton. Check-in and check-out were easy as can be and the rooms were NICE and VERY CLEAN!! Was very convenient to be connected by the skywalk to the Events Center for the hockey game we attended. Would definitely recommend this hotel!"
