Reviews
"Don't rent here. Sure, the car worked fine. But they charged me an extra cleaning fee for sand in the car. This is Hawaii, I'm sure most rental cars come back with some sand. Was the "extra cleaning" because they weren't planning on vacuuming the car before the next rental? When I returned the car they were overwhelmed with returns. Maybe they are short-staffed. Wish I had read the reviews on this place."
"Worst return experience. Returned my Jeep full tank (just got it filled up less then 2 miles from the airport) and they charged me extra $91 for refuelling. Contacted customer support and they said if I don't have a receipt for the gas, nothing they can do about it. I don't keep receipts because I've been renting cars for 10 years and it never happened. AVOID! Total scam."
"Charged me $93 dollars extra for .5 gallons missing in the tank. I filled up the tank less than 2 miles away from the drop off, & it literally says on the receipt "17.3 gallons out of 17.8". Called their number at least 6 times and never received an answer. Called customer support (at 3 pm) and they told me I needed to call tomorrow because customer service is closed."
"My wife and I have been renting vehicles all around the world for over 30 years. In this time we have always tried to return the vehicles in an as clean state as possible. We are sure that many are returned in a shocking state, but this time, in Kona, in May we we're charged $125 cleaning fee for 'Excessive Sand' in the vehicle. We don't argue that there was some sand on the floor mats, but in NO way was this excessive in our opinion? (see attached pictures) Do we now have to clean our rental cars inside and out before we return them? Is that not their task? We rang the company and protested our case politely, but they did not relent. Needless to say we will not be renting from either Avis (the parent company) or Payless again. You decide"
"Read all the reviews and I was concerned however, I didnt have any of the issues brought up by others. Budget and payless share the same staff and area. Payless is a small sign so if you see Budget, you're at the right place. The shuttle was quick to pick us up and take us a few miles to the rentals. They were quite friendly to me on arrival. Yeah its slow but every rental car place is slow. It wasn't extraordinarily slow as others remarked. It was a good price all things considered. I really got an equivalent to a suburban which I was happy with... an Expedition as advertised. I checked out fast and painless and got my final reciept electronically. Will I rent from them again? Heck yeah."
