"Edited to Respond: SUNDAY 11/12 pre-9AM; Terri's Hardwood Flooring is here and the entire building smells like volatile chemicals. On Saturday 9/16 the crew was here at 7:30AM. (10AM start time? That is absolutely false). Construction on the weekdays starts at 7:30AM and lasts until 6PM. Six days a week we've been dealing with this. How long after the first series of break-ins (March) did it take you to install cameras? Could the July break-ins have been prevented if you had acted sooner? The dumpster in the loading zone now forces moving in or out via the parking lot. The yellow bollard bears witness to turning a Uhaul out of the lot instead of being able to back it into the loading zone. It’s an old building with old windows and old pipes but with a very modern rental rate. ---- This is the 4th consecutive Saturday morning interrupted by the construction crew. Demo-ing where the noise travels all over the building or when they installed cabinets before 8AM shows no concern for the comfort of current tenants even on weekends. I had to cover my face entering the building because whatever noxious chemicals they’re using (Refinishing floors?) have lingered for days and burns my nose and eyes. The basement reeks and I can’t open my windows to let it air out. Parking is inadequate. Why be a considerate tenant when you can just tow your car to the lot and leave it in the corner for months? Remember this when the lot’s full and you’re hunting for street parking in the dark. Probably safer based on the number of break-ins. They blocked the loading space (helpful for moving). Now you can move in your belongings between parked cars while navigating a Uhaul in the cramped lot. Weed smoke and noise (basement) are ongoing issues. Avoid the grass. Some of us are responsible but the lazy woman with two dogs can’t be bothered to pick up her dogs’ waste."
"There are so many wonderful details about this amazing historic building. Jill and Mark have truly done a wonderful job restoring each individual space. Each apartment is unique. Plus, you are within walking distance to one of the most interesting parts of Little Rock! The building is quiet and secure, including secure parking."
"Loved living here for the 13 months that we did! The neighbors were all friendly, the staff was always prompt, professional and punctual. The renovation work was unparalleled, and the heart put into the work really showed. I will forever be grateful to Zach, Donna, Judy, and everyone else at Downtown Dwell for the privilege to live there and will miss them dearly!!!"
"I lived here for a year, and I really enjoyed it. Every place is going to have it’s drawbacks, but I feel like this place had so much character that I was able to work around most of them. What you should know: If you get an apartment facing Scott St, there is a football stadium light that mimics the sun at night. I bought myself some blackout curtains, which where expensive because the windows are so incredibly tall, but it worked to dim the blazing light and they looked great. Did I mention the beautiful tall windows?! Everyone who came to visit were enamored with the windows, just know they aren’t super efficient and the electric bill will slap you in the face in the winter. I never really heard my neighbors walking around their apartments or heard their tvs, but it is a loft style apartment. Which means exposed plumbing. You will know when your upstairs neighbors flush their toilets and wash their hands. I combated the noise factor with a noise maker when I slept. If you have your phone set to a rai storm, you won’t be startled awake at 3 am when someone flushes their toilet in the middle of the night. Every apartment entry door has a transom about, which is both adorable and a little annoying. They leave the hallway lights on all night, and because the apartments are loft style, the walls separating the bedroom don’t go all the way up. Which means you also have a bright light coming in from the transom too. But!! You can ask the maintenance people for a set of blinds (if you don’t already have some) and they will come out and install them for free! It wasn’t quite enough for me, so I took some pretty fabric, asked maintenance if I could borrow their tall ladder, and I stapled it over the transom. I did the trick with the transom light and it looked cute. Anyway, what I’m getting at is that there isn’t a place that’s perfect, especially an old place. But this building is so cute and the staff was always very helpful. But I still think they should turn the old cafeteria into a gym so I can’t give it 5 stars."
"I lived in apartments owned by Mark and Jill for about a year and a half and absolutely loved my experience. As landlords they were more than helpful and flexible as far as working with my needs and I was notified in advance for any and all maintenance operations. During my time with them they continuously improved on the apartments by adding a fenced around our parking area and replacing older coin operated washers by bringing in high efficiency washers which were free. The halls in the building were continuously gaining new artwork and the grounds were well maintained. They brought in a local internet company to offer residents incredibly cheap internet for the price. (This was a key factor for me) As individuals they are very personable and are passionate in their efforts of revitalizing Little Rock by purchasing older buildings and renovating them with new appliances, floor plans, and even cabinetry. I've heard personal stories of them helping other tenants in ways that go beyond the what I would expect from a typical landlord. If you want to wonder what you're doing with your life then ask Mark about sailing and prepare to be impressed. All in all, I would recommend their apartments to anyone that I know and wished they would start buying homes to renovate in my new location."
