"These apartments are pretty okay . Not bad looking at all but not worth the rent increases either.. Management is horrible. Been without a working air conditioning unit since Sept of 2022 & have yet to get it fixed. The office staff say it’s up to corporate and corporate says it’s not hot enough to install the air units so they rather tenants sit in a hot apartment. According to the staff, there were 8 tenants without air conditioning but that wasn’t an issue for them or corporate. Now, since a tornado hit and caused major damage to multiple apartment buildings, that resulted in everyone at Calais Forest to lose their home. Calais Forest , the staff & corporate didn’t reach out to the tenants (via text) until a day later regarding any information with any type of help. They are just horrible and unprofessional and don’t show any care for their tenants at all. Calais Forest sent out a text which stated “ Thank you for your patience. We have had safety professionals on site to determine which buildings are going to be accessible. Your home will be accessible within the next 2-3 days, weather permitting. We will be contacting you on tomorrow, to schedule your appointment time for access.” Now they are saying “ Residents, due to the property being condemned, all vehicles have been removed from Calais. If you had a vehicle or know someone who had vehicle at Calais, please contact Eckie's Towing & Recovery. They will let you know where your vehicle is located. You will need the last 6 digits of the vin number. Insurance adjusters will be allowed to elevate vehicles on site and owners will be allowed to obtain belongings out of the car. You or your insurance company will need to contact this company regarding fees.” .. Calais Forest residents were never notified of the property so called being condemned prior to this text message. So unprofessional and careless."
"The stay wasn’t great at all. Barely stayed in my own apartment because they never fixed anything. Had A/C problems. It was also multiple breaks-ins. Don’t think for a second you will get your deposit back no matter how much you clean the apartment yourself. They charge $200 alone for cleaning fees plus $75 for carpet cleaning. So maybe reconsider your options. People work too hard for their money."
"My significant other moved here in April 2022. Upon moving in, this unit WAS NOT EVEN READY. The washer was out of service and the bathroom was dirty. He reported this issue before he moved his things in and here it is December 2022c and they have not fixed or replaced his apartment. I visited him a few weeks ago and we had to go to a coin laundry just to wash clothes. This place is pathetic and ridiculous. He has been paying for a broken washer since he moved into his unprepared apartment and they have yet to fix any issues. I will be helping him get in contact with corporate about this issue. Do not move here. It is not worth it. The front office staff is horrible. They were horrible when I lived there the following year. I wish he would’ve went elsewhere but given the circumstances, this was the best place to fit his budget. He’s not picky, nor needy. As long as he has a comfortable place to stay, he’s happy. So he was fine with coming here but he see now that even if he doesn’t require much, this place is horrible. He has a lot of money owed to him due to him paying for an in unit washer unit and it has never worked since he moved in! Friendly neighbors that’s it. This place is not worth it!!! (No I don’t stay here now but I have lived here a year ago and after visiting him a few weeks ago, IT IS STILL horrible. He’s very antisocial and doesn’t speak much but I WILL!!)"
"ALL of the claims that the other reviewers have made regarding fees charged after moving out are 100% true. we were charged with carpet cleaning and apartment cleaning and I guarantee that we left the place much cleaner than when we moved in. When we moved in, the place was very gross and needed to be deep cleaned. When we moved out, we put our notice in at the right amount of time, and cleaned the place extremely well in hopes to receive our deposit back. Once we left, they said we left the carpet dirty and they would need to replace it. They charged us $3000 for cleaning fees, and stated we did not give proper notice prior to moving out. When we lived there, the neighbors smoked weed, and our apartment smelled like it. The parking is terrible. There is mold growing in the bathroom vents. I would never recommend that place to anyone. Also, that pool in the photos there is never as pretty as they make it seem. There is a layer of mold floating on the top. The cushions are filthy. I would give zero stars if possible."
