"I’m going on two years of living at the Mio. I can truly say I’ve enjoyed living here amongst other neighborhoods in San Jose. I do feel safe to walk around and go about my day and Japantown always holds events during the fall and there are fun events at the Gordon Biersh to attend. And you are close to Downtown San Jose. I always see staff either cleaning or keeping up with maintenance of the building. One year the staff repainted the interior of the building and refurnished the common areas and replaced the corridor carpet. If you have any maintenance concerns the team is quickly on it. I’m not too sure of the two guys names but they are super friendly and helpful along side Jay, I highly recommend going to Jay if you have any questions or concerns. The staff is pretty much on top of it. For the most part all the neighbors are pretty friendly and kind. Some people do like to keep to themselves and most people respect that. The overall building is generally quiet which fits the Japantown lifestyle."
"Place is great close to downtown. Apartment staff is very friendly and accommodating. I had some additional questions and Jay was quick to help out. Alex from maintenance is always quick to reply to service request and works with you to get issues resolved on your schedule."
"Car break ins, homeless people wandering in and casing apartments, horrible management. They have no on-site leasing managers or management at all. They’re banning cameras on doors for safety now too (hmm wonder why?) Avoid at all costs."
"Lack of security, terrible management and horrendous move-out fees. Self-guided tours made me uncomfortable with many people wandering around. Not to mention tacky marketing / self guided tour signage everywhere. No management on site and lack of cameras led to an easy target for theft and vandalism. We had other teenage residents harassing us (for no apparent reason) and knocking on our doors at all hours. Even with specific details, Mio replied with a robotic message 'that they were doing their best to take care of it.' Gates are always broken. There was no communication when there was a fire alarm issue that lasted 2-3 weeks. There was a period of 3 weeks where I had to be home or come home to secure my animal because of something of that nature. The one positive thing is that its a small community with decent units and large kitchens. Maintenance was good but went downhill toward the end. Thankfully, there were not too many maintenance issues inside* the unit since it is a fairly new building. The negatives do not make it worth it. Run."
"Please read this before you make your decision. The railroad beside the building is crazily noisy day and night. Also they charge you ridiculously for move-out for a maintained apartment . Never expect to get your deposit back. Respond to the owner: Thanks for your robotic reply. First of all, your reply makes no sense. The railroad that's making the crazy noise is not Caltrain. Perhaps you even don't know or care which property I'm talking about. So you just copy-pasted some ridiculous template to fool your residents. Also, it's impossible to "discuss" the charges, and this is what your staff told me in our "discussion": Everyone HAS TO pay cleaning fee when they move out, no matter how clean their apartment is."
