"I find it very funny all the posts that I see that see how cheap this place is. I don't know how many people think that $100 every day is cheap, especially when you don't even have your own bathroom. Most other hotels like this and the city are around $60 a night. Much easier for a single woman as myself too come up with. That was really my only complaint was that being a single woman on my own $100 every day was hard to do sometimes. Especially if you got behind it all cuz if you get behind you cannot catch up. When I was paying my rent on time and came up with $100 every day the manager and I got along just fine. But then once I got behind I ended up having to leave and was back out on the street for a while only coming to check back in a couple nights out of the week when I could come up with the money for the room but every time I did this the manager was more and more hostile to me and I'm not sure why. I would come in at 12:00 midnight sometimes even one or two in the morning and pay $100 and have to check out at 11:00 a.m.? Not sure what he had to complain about."

"First let me explain by far this is not a super fancy hotel nevertheless I have been fighting to survive in San Francisco for two years now. And the manager and owners of Hotel Sutter Larkin have done everything in their power to assist me with temporary housing every single time that I have found myself not knowing where I will go and stay. I keep to myself and I have no friends or family here. I am in tears thinking about what they are doing and have done for me. No it's not perfect and yes bring your cleaning supplies and fresh linen. The bathrooms are in the hallway and there are often people who do gross things and the management really tries to keep it together. I have never seen any rats or roaches. Nevertheless I am a very clean person so maybe that is why. I can't say enough about how much they help me. You must be a self starter, just respect management and keep open communication. Management sees everything and is very protective of the safety here. Keep a open mind and try hard to make it and they will have your back."
"I'm not from SF, so I had no idea there were places like this. If you aren't from here you need to know ... There aren't private bathrooms you have to go down the hall. People are nasty so, so are the bathrooms. I've seen one mouse and lots of cockroaches. That said if you know the kind of place you're getting... In sf it's pretty good. It's safe, the manager is one of the best people I've met since I moved here. He is kind and willing to help you out(if you're respectful and kind in return) I like it. I bring my own cleaning supplies and clean up before I use anything. If I could the manager would get 5 stars."
"I must say, for a Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotel in San Francisco, this is definitely one of the much better, cleaner, and nicer ones that I know of. Rooms are well maintained. You won't have a Private Bathroom of your own (However they keep the bathrooms clean at all times). It's managed by a Indian family that are very nice and pleasant. I would recommend this place for a person that is watching their budget, and perfect location if your looking to go bar hopping on historic Polk Street. The property location is very centrally located in pretty much the exact center of SF and easy to find, only 2 blocks over from Van Ness Avenue (US 101). I will stay here again for sure. It may not be the Hilton, but definitely In the top of the list for SRO's in the city."
