"I work here as the Resident Manager. The Mayfair Hotel is a residential hotel, which means that people live here fill time, so these units are not for rent on a nightly basis. The residents here sign a lease like anywhere else, and live in the same way same way people do in ANY apartment building. When people hear or see the word "Hotel" they immediately think if the other type of hotel... which is understandable, but this is not the Holiday Inn type of hotel."

"The Mayfair is not a traditional hotel, it has been transitioned into a SRO for adults who have been recommended to the building by one of the transitional housing programs operated in the City. Unless you come through a program there is no way to get a room here. The Mayfair is a historic hotel, very clean with spacious rooms, all of which have adjoined private bathrooms. The staff take great pride in keeping the hotel a true jewel amongst it's peers."

"I can see why this hotel has terrible reviews on Yelp. I am here on Business and I was pushed out of the hotel because they overbooked which they let me know of on the day of my check-in. They re-booked me and my colleague on the other side of town so we now need to commute 1 hr back and forth to go to business meetings which is what we wanted to avoid by booking in advance! No compensation proposed even though we have extra charges for getting transit across town and price inflation due to large conferences being held currently in downtown LA. They did not offer alternatives and said to to my colleague (in-person) that if we want to be compensated, we need to talk to the manager. In other words, just email us so we can ignore you. Terrible! Stay clear of this hotel!"
