Townhouse Motel 475 South Second Street, San Jose, CA 95113

"It didn't look very appealing from the outside. The exterior looks more like a motel 6 than a luxury hotel. Once inside I was informed that the lobby is under construction. The room was very nice. It appeared to be newly remodeled and clean. A large TV in the main room and a smaller on on the wall by the bathroom and vanity was a nice touch. Under building parking to keep the car out of the sum during the day was a nice touch and walking distance to the downtown area. So I would say all in all it was a nice experience other than the bed spread stained with something. I also did not like the refundable deposit which was requires. If someone is going to pay to stay in a 4 star hotel I would think they fee would be unnecessary or ar least since you have my card info you would bill me afterward. Now I am in a situation where I have to wait for my money back. For this reason alone, I won't stay there again."

"Outside looks scetchy and old. People running it are very nice. Rooms are clean and nice furnishings. BUT, the units are overly deodorized. Overpowering. We could NOT handle it. We left in less than 1 hour, canceled our 3 day stay. We found another place, cheaper, new, gated and No flowery/scents in the room. Don't use if you have sensitivity to strong smelly stuff."

"The exterior and interior of this hotel are completely different. The exterior looks like a dump. The front office is tiny and cluttered, and the exterior walls and stairs are in disrepair. But inside the rooms, it's very nicely updated. New paint, carpet. High end fixtures and finishes. Tile mosaic in the bathroom. If you can get past the outside and get in a room, it's a very nice place to stay."

"Outside looks like a place you don't want to be, but the inside is pleasantly surprising. Cons: brand new looking carpet made my feet black from walking barefoot in the room, you can tell which rooms are for weekly renters (dirty curtains, shady looking people), we had to walk past weekly renters outside smoking constantly, parking lot is tight. Pros: newly remodeled rooms are beautiful, king size bed was amazingly comfortable, great location is within walking distance of many dining spots, the manager/owner is super nice and helpful. Wish I could give it 3.5 stars, it's just not quite 4 though."

"My husband and I stayed here this week and I must say we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were large, well appointed, fresh and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable so we got one of the best night's sleep we've had in weeks! It was reasonable priced considering it was so close to the SAP Arena. The establishment had very good security in place so we felt safe. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needed to spend the night in downtown San Jose! We will definitely stay here again."
