"The Griffon was very pleasant. Location wad great. Staff was friendly and courteous. Rooms are very small, but that's to be expected given the hotel size. The mandatory $20 per night charge is a little much for what you get, to be honest, but overall, I enjoyed my stay."

"I arrived at Hotel Griffon at 9am the day of check in after an international flight and the staff quickly found an available room. They were super welcoming and accommodating. The bed is very comfortable and the hotel location is ideal for Embarcadero access!"

"We absolutely loved staying here. For the price it is a STEAL, 1000% book this hotel. Not only is the price fantastic for the location but the rooms are newly renovated and look better than the pictures here. The also provide you with a pass to the YMCA that’s right next door which was fantastic and has cardio machines looking over the harbor. They also give complimentary coffee, tea and Pastries from 7am-10am and they were actually Extremely good. This ended up being our breakfast. And most importantly the staff was phenomenal. From check in to check out every staff member we came in contact with was very nice and helpful. Special shout out to Diana and Oliva for being THE sweetest! They also have a solid water filter station that saved us from needing to buy water AND the restaurant directly next door (Ozumo, Asian fusion) was delicious and they have a VERY good happy hour from 4-6 with half off food and drinks. Pretty much this place is fantastic and you should 100% stay here! Oh yeah and EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, the Bed and Pillows were like sleeping on clouds! We slept like babies and woke up so rested! 10/10 stay here !"

"Stayed on a Sunday night in one of their king accessible rooms. Did not find it to be noisy at night but in the morning could definitely clearly hear people talking in the hallway in the morning. All the staff were super helpful, kind and warm. A housekeeper knocked on my door around 9:15; fortunately I was already up but this would definitely have annoyed me had I still been sleeping. The bed was very comfortable and the room felt clean and safe. This room type is spacious and features a (pretty shallow) tub, but has very little natural light. The hotel is cute and located in a good area, a short walk from the Ferry Building Market and the Embarcadero BART station. As others have mentioned, there is a $20 "amenity fee" payable directly to the hotel no matter who you book with, which they justify saying it pays for WIFI (which was fast), access to the YMCA down the street (did not use as they were closed), and coffee and pastries in the lobby in the morning (I guess I missed these as I didn't come down until checkout at 11). I had seen it mentioned in other reviews so I knew to expect it (not listed anywhere on the 3rd party site I booked through, Traveluro), but it still felt like an unnecessary cash grab. Overall despite the drawbacks I felt this was a five star experience relative to the price. I would definitely stay again if I was able to get another deal close to the price point I paid for this stay. Did not try the restaurant."
