The name itself should be called the $1.99 store because if nothing is marked, which most things are not marked, they're actually a $1.99, not 99 cents. To me, that is misleading and wrong. The two stars are for the fact that they do have a variety of items that you cannot find in other stores."
"I am certainly pleased with the prices. Paying $1.99-$3.99 is not bad at all for items that you find at Target for $7.99-$9.99. This is definitely my go to spot for a few personal items. They will be seeing me regularly."
"I understand that inflation is causing higher prices, but $1.99 per item at a "99c" store is a little extreme. I was just here a few months ago and the price was $1.59. You might as well shop at Walmart or HEB. Example: 3 cup noodles = $1.99. They are 42c at HEB. The $1.99 price increase is not clearly posted. Nothing noted on the signs or windows outside the store. I also did not see anything in the store noting the $1.99 price, although everything higher than $1.99 was very clearly marked. Many customers walk to this store. The prices are unfair to those people who may not have the ability to travel to an alternative store. Add this on top of the employees who look at you like you're going to steal something at any minute, and it is no longer worth shopping here."
