Ascend St. Charles Apartments

"During our two years at Ascend we enjoyed the spacious apartments, lots of sidewalks for walking, nice amenities, and great maintenance staff! However, the cons outweighed the pros as our time at Ascend came to an end. During our time there we had an AC unit that would frequently stop working and needed to be replaced. Management would not approve maintenance to purchase and install a new unit for us and instead put a bandaid on a bullet wound and gave us a window unit which was somehow expected to cool down our 3 bedroom apartment. We constantly reminded them that we had a toddler and newborn and it was unsafe for us to have such a hot apartment, but they refused to get us a new unit. The management team showed no grace or sympathy either when it came to moving out. We wanted to add 1-2 months on to our lease and they wanted to charge us over $5,000 for a month to month rate. Borderline unethical! On top of these issues there were also a variety of other issues we dealt with, mostly involving management who we continually found to be hard to work with, unreasonable, and inconsiderate."

"Moved to Chicagoland 8 months ago. Needed a short term unfurnished apartment. My realtor suggested Ascend because of the proximity to my office. While my unit had been maintained, it wasn't the "Luxury" unit shown on the website. Was a second floor walk up with carpet throughout and no microwave. For my short-term needs it was fine. I might suggest if you are a light sleeper to seek an interior apartment. The traffic on South Kirk Rd is pretty constant."

"Ascend St Charles provides a pleasant living environment; however, be cautious about potential additional charges upon moving out. While the staff is generally friendly, communication can be challenging. The maintenance team is impressive but may prioritize major issues over smaller requests. Unfortunately, post-move-out, we experienced unexpected, astounding charges, and attempts to contact both Greystar Management and Ascend St Charles have yielded no response for over a week. Due to unforeseen costs and communication issues, I do not recommend Ascend St Charles for those seeking leases in the area."

"Excellent community with all amenities. Location is great with everything close by. Definitely recommend living here if you’re thinking about renting in the St. Charles area."

"I could not recommend this place any less. I wish I could give a zero star review. I lived here for almost two years. Their management is nice and accommodating until you move out. They charged insane fees and made up move out costs after leaving. Please stay away. There are so many better apartments in St. Charles."
