Super 8 by Wyndham St. Charles

"So I lost my wallet just prior to needing this room, and it took me forever to find a hotel that would accept the circumstances of my friend booking the hotel for me and me only having a picture of my ID. Having my daughter with me made things much more difficult, but Darshan could not have been more accommodating. He let my daughter and I hang out in the lobby and run up and down the stairs countless times while I worked with my friend to do the booking. I was so extremely pleased and blessed to have Darshan there to check us in, so I just had to make it known haha. Thanks again Darshan! 10/10!"

"This was probably the WORST, MOST HORRIBLE hotel I have ever stayed. The 1st night & again 4 x's during the night & in morning it didn't flush again. I thought I heard "scratching" in the wall sounded like an animal. Main entrance doors don't have either hands-free or power-assisted opening and the 2 doors are at right angles so it is VERY difficult to bring in luggage. "Free" breakfast is "pathetic" at best, cold cereal, juice (?), coffee, and milk out of a gallon jug. Front desk people are surly at best. Squirrel or bird have a nest right outside the entrance doors. Many (apparent) fulltime guests smoke right outside the entrance doors. Many other issues including a mention bugs, plugged drains and floor flooding etc. from "resident guests." Wouldn't advise staying at this hotel at a 3rd of the price."

"Was looking for a place to sleep for a night while in Chicago for a rock concert. even though we reserved our room late, the room was ready when we got there, was clean, and the staff was very polite. Would stay here again if in the area. Edit : changing my review to five stars, I feel as though they went out of their way to make sure me and my buddy had a room ready, stocked, cleaned, all while having less than an hour to prepare. Well done. Thank you again"

"No hot water in shower at 5am. Room reeked of smoke for a non-smoking hotel. Breakfast was cold cereal and/or pancakes - No fruit, no pastries, no bread. Only coffee to drink in breakfast area - No water or juice. Ice machine did not work. Went to the breakfast area at 6am (when they opened) and it was disgusting, the counter was sticky and had spills on it and none of the tables were clean. If I could give this less than 1 star I would. This was the worst experience I have every had at a Super 8."

"No people hanging out in parking lot like a few previous reviews said. Good fist sign. Parking lot does back to another, larger, parking lot. Waited at front counter for over 10 minutes before I was helped. Gentleman checking me in was very nice and accommodating. Get to room, open the door, hit the light switch...nothing. Open the door wide to get a little light from the hallway, reach into bathroom, hit the switch....light! Whew, at least we got power. Get in the room and immediately notice the trim on the latch side of door is off and leaning in the corner. So much for the bolt and slide latch, since the slide is still attached to the trim that is leaning in the corner. Thankfully the deadbolt works and is enough for me to feel safe. Get into the room and realize why light switch doesn't work...there's no light fixtures anywhere. There are two lamps in the room operated by switches located on the lamps. Room does not smell and looks surprisingly clean. Bathroom is slightly neglected, but otherwise in decent shape and mostly clean. Breakfast is a joke. May stay again in a pinch, but most likely will go elsewhere next time I'm in St. Charles"
