TownePlace Suites by Marriott Lubbock

"Pros: Quiet. Did not hear a lot of loud guests. Parking close. Easy access to highway. Nice sized room. Nice to have dishes and silverware. Ice cube trays were filled and frozen. Cold air. Cons: Took >10 minutes for someone to show up to check me in. First set of keys didn’t work. Stained walls in every room. Shower curtain had stains. Very thin comforter/bedspread. Pool/hot tub closed indefinitely… that was not posted on website. Back door entrance permanently unlocked by our room, no key needed. Missing light over back entrance with wires hanging off building… no fixture. Had to wait for clean laundry to get 2 more wash rags. Towels thin and worn. Phone cord to call front desk missing to phone in room. Breakfast was dry cereal and waffle machine. Elevator stops on 2nd floor, light/button on permanently. Seriously I can’t make all this up!"

"Pros: Very friendly staff and good location. Cons: Definitely needs some maintenance and a remodel. The bathtub had cracks in it and there was a lot of wear and tear. Also, breakfast was a grab bag rather than the traditional approach that the other properties have gone back to."

"The room was clean and comfortable. No barber though, but that's okay I didn't need a haircut anyway. Arrived during a snow/ice storm. Most of the restaurants were closed and the hotel had no vending machines. Thankfully, Joe's Crab Shack was open and I walked through the cold wind and snow. The next day the parking lot was a sheet of ice. No salt or sand. Very dangerous. Had to wait for the ice to melt enough to get back on the road."

"Spent 20 hours trying to get a reply to my “chat” with the office to use one of my suite awards and, finally gave up. Upon arrival. I was asked if I got their message sent 30 minutes prior to my arrival telling me I needed to book my suite awards through Marriott’s corporate reservation center. We has been using these awards the previous 2 nights at other Marriott properties with quick response to “chat” and all were able to upgrade our room without calls to corporate. On arrival. I was also told breakfast would be “grab and go”. However, At 8:40 am, nothing was available. When asked about it, front desk said they had just messaged the manager to get something going. The Chair in room was in need of replacement, very dirty. Ring around doorknob in bath closet needed to be replaced. Mold in tub. Tv channel guide not correct. Noise coming from bathroom sounded like water turning on every 10 minutes. Didn’t get a lot of sleep. Finally, turned on AC and closed bathroom door to get some sleep. While the staff was friendly, this hotel experience has prompted me to write my first ever poor review. Marriott Corp would do well to visit this hotel and see for themselves the situation at this hotel. Stay at another Marriott property if you want the type of experience you would expect from Marriott."

"Room is nice and clean, bed and linens are super comfy, and it's perfect setup for getting a little work done and dinner made on our road trip -- kitchen, workspace, sofa. The star though was Eric — total spirit of hospitality! He was super friendly when we checked in. Then when we found our kitchen sink wasn't draining because garbage disposal wasn't working, he fixed it. I did not expect the nicely dressed young person behind the desk to also be handy. Staff can make or break an experience, and Eric made ours for sure!"
