Reviews of College Works Painting Indiana
"After returning from Europe at ~6 AM this morning, how lovely it was to hear the doorbell ring less than 3 hours after I finally got to bed... I could use some painting. I'll never contract your company, though. Even if your competitors charge more for less. Put your uninvited solicitation in the mailbox next time!"
"Do not hire College Works. I paid in full for an interior paint job in August. After I paid in full I realized they had missed some areas and had not finished the job. I let them know the next day. I have been texting with the project manager to try and get the job done --- 4 months later they have still not shown up to complete the work. I am beyond frustrated and will never use College Works again. Extremely unprofessional."
"Review Update: After several issues with the quality of work and damages to our gutters by the painting crews, the company has resolved the issue with a refund of our deposit and compensation to fix the damages. Previous Review: By far the worst customer experience I have ever had. They destroyed our gutters by improperly painting over the factory finish without cleaning them after we had asked them not to paint the gutters at all. They painted over our wood siding without scraping most of the peeling paint. They dribbled paint all over our sidewalks, limestone porch caps, and roof. They dumped the paint in multiple areas in our backyard which killed our grass. We asked that they figure out a fix for the gutter issue, and for them to try again on the scraping and painting, however, they responded by saying it is not worth it to them to clean up or complete the project. 100% WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. IF I COULD GIVE "0" OR NEGATIVE STARS I MOST DEFINITELY WOULD."
"Save yourself time, money and headaches by not hiring this company. Our experience with college works painting was terrible. We hired them to paint the trim on our brick home after we had brand new gutters installed. The price we were quoted seemed kind of high, but we were assured that there would be maximum prep work, including pressure washing, scraping, sanding and priming. The very first day they showed up, we were informed that there would be no pressure washing as part of the prep because they’d decided it didn’t really need it... upon further pressure from us, they confessed that it was because their pressure washer was broken and they wanted to get started... THEN they immediately began painting over our brand new gutters to match the existing trim instead of the other way around, thereby damaging the finish on our brand new gutters. They got paint on our driveway; they got paint on our front porch; they got paint on our newly stained deck; they dripped paint on our house; they killed HUGE patches of our lawn by washing their brushes, etc. in the grass and continued to do that even after we asked them to stop.... and it took them THREE WEEKS to to the job. Do not recommend."
"It seems that others have had success in the past with College Works for outdoor projects but I can not say I had that success with them painting interior rooms. There was little to no prep work, no sanding, no drop cloths (paint on carpet that they clearly hoped I would not notice), if they taped it was not well as it is all over my trim. Cleanup was non-existent and when they did wash their tools, they did it in my sinks, one of which has textured copper hardware (try getting that out easily without ruining the patina.) Not only did they not thoroughly wash the sinks out I find myself throwing out several textured dishes that I am unable to get clean and several bottles for my baby son since I am not interested in even risking that. I also had to vacuum all the rooms where I was asked to put Spackle on and they would sand, but those were the only places they sanded. The painting itself left a lot to be desired, overloaded rollers left fish eyes. I had to call them back to put a second coat on in one room because the first coat was way too light (I paid ahead for two coats in all rooms). They painted the areas on the white ceiling where the previous owner had done a bad job with Grey even though they were painting part of a room white for me and had the paint. The Crew leader made the "executive" decision without once ever calling me. It has only been up for 5 days and I already have paint peeling in one area. When I questioned the crew leader about the poor painting, he blamed it on the previous owners poor painting because he knew them personally and knew they were poor DIYers, which to me shows there was no concern for getting the job done right. I was offered a $150 (6%) discount for my troubles which doesn't even scratch the surface of poor workmanship. I now find myself spending my only day free with my family this week re-painting the rooms the right way, cleaning the carpet with the hope it comes out, trying to see if I can replace a few dishes or buy a new set, and cleaning up their trash. If you want my opinion, hire a professional that has experience as a painter first before running the show. I had hoped that the bigger company would offer better protection from these issues, but it did not. I wished I had been in town when they came in to do the work because I would have fired them on the spot when they didn't pre-sand the walls; most paint manufacturers will not warranty the paint if the walls are not prepped, Sherwin Williams included. If I could give them a 0 rating I would."
