Reviews
"I initially moved in here about a year and a half ago and everything was fine. Since, hidden fees appear and rent has gone up $400. Along with this, nothing is ever fixed and the building is infested with bugs. Primarily silverfish. I keep my space clean and tidy. When I ask about something to be looked at or fixed for example, the pests, the staff makes it seem like you’re the issue. They will not do anything about your issue unless you personally make it known that the issue is present to their face. As good as an appearance they put out there to people that don’t know how they operate on the inside, don’t be tricked. I would not in a million years recommend this place to anyone. It is a scam and gross. Whatever they show you if you were to take a tour is putting on a show for you but if and God forbid you move into this place, be prepared with what I’ve shared. I have attachments along with this review. Don’t rent here."
"They took me through hell just to get a dusty dirty apt. The front door wouldn’t work for months and the trash is always over piling. The hallways smell of old fast food and vomit!!! The mail just started being distributed to our mailboxes on the main street building after several months of having to go to the leasing office just to retrieve our mail. The walls are paper thin and I heard my neighbor actually sneeze if you times which is really disturbing.. it is not worth $1100 based price to live down in that building. If you like the smell of trash, just site of trash and subpar service, then moved to the Standard On Main"
"We moved into Standard on Main in March and we love living here! The location is so convenient and the staff is friendly and helpful. They host resident events for different holidays and offer partnerships with downtown businesses to offer discounts to residents. Every time we have put in any maintenance request, it has been handled very quickly. I especially love how pet friendly they are with treats in the leasing office and lots of loves for our dogs when we take them to visit their leasing office friends! We are really happy with our choice to move here!"
"I want to post this review publicly to warn others of massive security flaws in this apartment building. I have brought up these concerns to management (even a corporate liaison) with kind words in response but no tangible action to be seen. My fiancee was working late and arrived in the parking lot that the Standard on Main sells to tenents (at an exorbant price, 2 cars for $150/month). She was verbally assaulted and had a man attempt to lure her into his vehicle. After bringing this up with the staff and asking for camera footage, I was informed that the Standard on Main does not employ video cameras or any form of surveillance/security systems over their parking lots. This is not what we were told when we moved into the Standard on Main. We were told there were security systems, including cameras and security officers, employed for both of their parking lots. On top of no oversight for their parking lots, there are other glaring security issues. The biggest being the automated doors will remain open for 10-15 seconds after letting in a tenent, enough time for a random person to piggyback into the building. This is extremely unsafe. Oftentimes, the door will remain open after letting in patrons, letting any random person from the street walk into the building. We have seen this happen with Doordash and other delivery drivers in the area. This security flaw coupled with violence in the downtown area lead to a massive safety issue for people living within the facility. Beyond security issues, our stay at the Standard on Main has been met with delayed gratification for things promised to us when we signed our lease. 9 months after we signed our lease, we are finally getting a way to access our mail without going through the main office. We were also confirmed to be having bike storage when we signed the lease, with that not happening so far since we have begun living here (12 months later). I also have to say the quality of craftsmanship that went into constructing the units is not very high. When we moved in, there were multiple small problems with the unit; chips, dents, and dust from construction. The property managers advertised as "upscale, modern apartments" but reused old early-2000s appliances. While the appliances work, the quality of the appliances, the kitchen, and overall construction leave something to be desired. Lastly, the parking price is going to be absolutely ridiculous with the next lease renewal. For two cars, the Standard on Main is expecting us to pay $155 per month for parking their lot, which is not covered, across a busy intersection that people often run through red lights, and unsupervised for criminal activity. Speaking of lease renewal, the Standard on Main gave us two weeks to advise them if we wanted to renew our lease. This was three months before the lease ended, with the Standard on Main advising if we did not sign the lease renewal, there would be no further chances to renew at a latter date. Some redeeming qualities are the location is very nice for decent restaurants nearby. The internet is also fantastic for WFH reliability. Is it very nearby to the children's hospital, but is sometimes unsafe for walking in the area. Overall, I would not recommend living at the Standard on Main. I would not recommend it for University of Akron students based off of proximity and safety, and I would not recommend it for people working at nearby hospitals. If you have any questions or want to see any documentation backing up my claims, I would be more than happy to provide you with them. Attached are photos of the facility needing to be boarded up because of the unsafe living conditions in the area."
