"Update: They called me on Tuesday apologized for the "inconvenience." They then proceeded to tell me that a gas leak is considered an act of God and they won't reimburse anything. They also blamed us for not properly inspecting and reporting a gas leak that we didn't know was there because it was the gas company that found it. It "passed" their inspections according to them so it must be our fault. I have been a tenant in one of their homes since 2020. My rent is always paid and I've never had any complaints filed against me by any neighbors and have passed every single inspection they've done. All that to say I've been a good tenant. On Thursday (02/15/24) the gas company came to change the meter and found one of the appliances (in the room next to our bedroom) was leaking gas. The gas company said it failed their inspection and they wouldn't turn the gas back on until it did. So, I called them and they said they'd send someone out ASAP. They said they were sending someone the next morning so I took the morning off work. Well they sent a technician that could fix anything (according to him) except gas leaks. Like what was even the point of sending him? I lost the pay for that morning and nothing was fixed. I called again and they said the ticket had been reassigned to a specialized vendor. Great! A specialist on gas leaks, right? Wrong! They forwarded the info to a garbage pickup company. I called again they said someone would reach out and they didn't. I called again and someone reached out a few minutes later and said he'd get back to me. Well he didn't and when I tried to call him back the number just had a busy dial tone. He had said that he would get a different vendor that could come on Saturday. Saturday I called again and it took hours of being bounced around from department to department so I had to take Saturday off as well. He reached out again this time saying the same thing I told him before. That the vendor they hired wouldn't come out until next week. He said he could not do anything else even though he's the person in charge of emergency situations like gas leaks. They kept offering to put me up at a hotel and every time I tried to take them up on the offer they said that somebody else would reach out to authorize it. Surprise surprise they didn't call me. Of course they also refuse to credit anything or in any way compensate me for all the money I've had to spend since now I'll have to pay for my own hotel too. Even though that this appliance was brought in by them. They replaced the old one with this faulty one and won't even take responsibility for it. I've talked to over 10 different people and they keep transferring me saying that the next person would help and then the next person says they can't and they transfer me again. Any issue will take at least three calls to get resolved including erroneous fees they put on your account. Your issue will always be someone else's problem and nobody will help. So, my point is I recommend you move into one of their deathtraps, sorry I mean properties if you'd like to die a fiery death after lighting a candle and have the technician show up a week later. Or perhaps if you prefer to peacefully die in your sleep from a gas leak. Please do sign a contract with these people if you'd like to spend eternity and a half on the phone and to have nothing come of it anyway. I encourage you to tour their homes if having emergency gas leaks treated the same as a busted toilet is your preference. At best the company is being negligent at worst it's criminal. I inquired about terminating my lease early if they didn't fix it quickly enough and they were kind enough to inform me that even if I break the lease because the home is unsafe they'll still be charging two months' rent as a penalty. Tldr: Save your time, money and health and run the opposite way."
