Holiday Inn Express & Suites Jacksonville - Mayport / Beach, an IHG Hotel

"I stayed here Feb. 13 and at first, was impressed. It was fairly priced compared to other hotels on the same night and apparently clean. The morning I checked out I saw a COCKROACH crawling, broad daylight, across the floor and then into the bathroom. I addressed this matter to the front desk employee to which she merely asked me the size and told me it was a palmetto bug and not a cockroach (which are the same and any bug in the room is disgusting really). She told me that bugs come in because they’re everywhere and when I asked her if it’s normal to have bugs in the hotel, she kind of brushed it off and insinuated it was normal. Seeing that the cockroach was crawling around in daylight (curtains open and lights on) it disgusts me to think what was crawling around while sleeping. Very disappointed in the cleanliness and customer service. Do not recommend."

"This hotel is in a great location. I'm not a fan of the new vinyl plank floors. Everything is so loud . . You can hear everything. But the bed was comfortable and the water pressure great. The breakfast was ok. Not much attention to detail however. There are so many choices out there. They need to step up the breakfast experience. You have to look for everything. No one there to help. But we made the best of it. The coffee was good."

"The place is nice enough, and the staff is friendly. Breakfast was a lot better than expected. However, one of the main reasons I booked was because of the pool, which I could not use because it had what seemed to be dirty toilet paper floating in it. I pointed it out to the front desk, who called and said it was cleaned a couple of hours later. When I went back, I got in only to swim to the other end to find that the debris was still there."
