"The last time I was in Savannah I past by this inn and restaurant and made a mental note to visit on my next visit. I am awfully glad that I made that note because my recent overnight stay and meal were exceptional. When we arrived handyman" Grumpy" assisted us with car parking and baggage up to our comfortable room.As he assisted us, he gave us a wonderful oral history of the property.Grumpy is was just one of the wonderful surprises of our visit. The evening meal was perfect; palatable, perfect presentation, and delicious. Wait person Scott was friendly, helpful and attentive. Note: ask for a room that is not directly over the bar if possible."
"Not allowing cancelation 4 days prior to stay, very disappointing. Parking spots taken. Had to park a block away on the street for 2 nights."
"I reached out twice out in regard to our recent stay. We had some issues that arose before and during our stay. Originally I booked room 304, which had a king-sized bed, spa tub, fireplace, mini fridge, and very few stairs. I called to verify my room the Monday before our stay as I had lost the confirmation email. The young gentleman told me the room number so I could look again at the layout etc. When I looked up, the room showed a queen-sized bed. I called back, and the manager on duty explained that there had been recent renovations and that some rooms had been changed from king-sized beds to queen-sized beds. If I had not called, I would never have known of the change, which seems a bit unprofessional. The manager offered another room, 318, with similar amenities but up two flights of stairs, although it is not on the website for me to verify. I explained to him that I was unable to use the stairs(due to a car accident). He mentioned that another building was being finished up and might be available for our stay. He said he would call back after speaking to the owner. After two days with no call, I called back and was again told that the room would 'likely' be ready for our stay on Friday and that I would get a callback. Come Friday, I received no phone call, and when we received our check-in paperwork, it still showed room 318, which was up two flights of stairs. However, the gentleman checking us in said we were in the new room, 401. I asked if it had the same amenities as our original room and was told that it did. When we got in the room, there was no mini-fridge, the coffee pot was on a chair, there was no fireplace(just the mantle/hole), and it was a walk-in shower with no tub. The room seemed like it would be great when it was finished, but it was very obviously not done for our stay. While I do appreciate that they rushed to get a room on the first floor ready, it was not truly ready, in my opinion. We did ask about a mini-fridge, and we were told that we could "use the kitchen fridge if needed,” but we ended up buying a small cooler and got ice from the staff. We had no option at that point but to stay as most places were booked or very costly. One additional thing: to the left of the fireplace, below the window and behind the curtain, an electrical outlet did not have a cover, which is a significant safety issue. Oh, and "Grumpy" was amazing and very helpful, as much as he could be."
"It's supposed to be hunted."
