"Be careful booking this one (226) specifically. The others have a street side access unlike this one. For 226 you access from a back alley with no other way into the unit. Even trying to wipe your feet you will track the dirty water and smell into the unit. In addition, there is nowhere to park to load/unload and the parking garage for the unit is several blocks away. They offer a discount, but its terribly inconvenient. The room was pretty clean, a towel was displayed and had a large hair on it, so that was a pretty obvious issue. I get that happens occasionally, but it being the towel displayed, someone should have seen that. It's very spacious and has a great view but the older building has issues. We had a hole in the floor we could see into the building underneath. The roof leaked when it rained and had obvious signs of water damage. Its dimly lit, which I thought was cool, but it may not be your cup of tea. During our stay we had a unique issue with construction working on the roof under us (our floor) which was a nightmare for the poorly insulated unit. Most staying here probably wont have to deal with the poor timing. Support was very nice, polite when reached out to. They offered apologies and called quickly, but it was just condolences. Not being able to get decent sleep for a place you paid to sleep in was kind of rough."
"This apartment has an excellent location right in the center of it all...restaurants, shops, museums and bars, its very spacious which was a nice surprise as well as having a fairly well equipped kitchen. The place is clean and the beds are pretty comfortable - overall an excellent stay. Having the entrance to the building in an alley is not a big deal, it's well lit and really not many people pass through there we felt very safe coming home late at night, nearby bar noise was not a problem either. I highly recommend this property."
"Incredibly clean apartment and the rental team was incredibly responsive any time I needed help. I travel a ton and am incredibly picky about my accommodations, but they blew me away. I would definitely stay here again. Two small downsides — the king bed wasn’t comfy, but again, I’m very particular about mattresses. I wasn’t fond of the entryway being in an alley. It made me a tiny bit uneasy when I’d come back at night."
"I can assure you that there were bed bugs in the bed of the room with windows. The ironic part was that pest control apparently sprayed that same day I checked in in the apartment. Probably because the guest before me gave the same feedback. I ended up with like 6 bug bites from sleeping in that bed. I then moved to the other room and did not get bitten once and returned home, where I was right before going to the sonder, and no more bug bites either. The rest was great but now I am not sure how to feel about this system of dealing with these issues privately through email, as my feedback is not posted in the apartment post as it occurs in Airbnb. The reply I got from Sonder was not satisfactory either, they were denying the problem and offering solutions that did not work before."
"This was my first experience with this group and location. First the location. The pictures showed the location on a great downtown building but in reality the entry was located in the back down a sketchy alley with large RAT catchers next to the door. No lift so you are carrying all of you luggage up a back stare case. The automated security door looked like it was broken into from the inside. The bedroom walls didn’t go to the ceiling or had window at the top letting light or noise in. Support and Parking: I had to call support to actually find the entrance. After speaking with the representative they finally told me it was down the alley. As I walked down I stated this was shady and was asking for a refund. They said it would be fine. I asked about the parking across from the door in the alley. The representative stated I could park their with the private property towing signs posted. They were incorrect and I found my rental car towed from the location from a private firm. I spent the rest of the night negotiating with them to get my car back. Sonder stated they would not refund my cost a day later. Then I found parking blocks away and when coming back that night was harassed by homeless. We did not feel safe. To summarize the location downtown is great but we did not feel safe where the access to the apartment is in the alley. I would not recommend."
