"Very peaceful, safe, and convenient place to live. We enjoyed living here for 2 years. The only reason we left was because rent increased and we wanted a larger apt but none were available. Rent increases were not unreasonable amounts. Beautiful cozy spaces. Well kept grounds. Maintenance and management were very responsive. The few hiccups we had we quickly taken care of and with kindness. Had run ins with a few palmetto bugs over the years but it wasn't problematic, they exist. Neighbors were pleasant. Great pool (whoever left floaties hanging out there, thank you!) The gym is small and I feel it's a little dark, but adequate enough for basic workouts and never crowded. Beth and Michelle are absolute gems. I wish they had benches around the neighborhood but that's such a minor gripe. Moving out was painless and although we didn't get our whole deposit back, what we were billed for made total sense. Highly recommend choosing The Highlands as a place to live."
"I lived at Highlands for 7 years and loved everything about it. The staff (office and maintenance) are absolutely wonderful; the property is extremely well-maintained, peaceful, and homey; and the amenities and location are fantastic. Rental rates are incredibly affordable. COMPLEX: Relatively small number of units/residents for the size, which is a major plus. Grounds are nice and well cared for. TONS of beautiful green space & trees throughout the complex, which creates a peaceful vibe and is perfect for pet owners. (Having outdoor space throughout is way better than a tiny, run-down "dog park" offered in overcrowded communities.) The amount of open space also means there's plenty of parking. Preventive maintenance is on a reliable, best-case basis (e.g., pressure washing, pest control, dryer vent cleaning, chimney cleaning, plowing the parking lot after snow/ice). APARTMENTS/UNITS - Comfortable, warm/inviting, and homey. Units are thoughtfully designed--every bit of space is functional, great open-concept living space, and surprisingly expansive storage. Finishes aren't flashy, but are updated and nice. Units are solidly built, spacious, and clean. Everything works perfectly...and whenever general wear/tear or emergency occurs, the maintenance guys respond and resolve the issue astonishingly quickly. (And they'll often leave adorable little seasonal/pet portrait sketches on the "while you were out" notice.) COMMUNITY: Fairly diverse (and becoming increasingly so over the last 2-3 years), including occupation and age ranges - from young couples, people starting families, and students to retirees. There are a number of longer-term residents because it's such a nice place to live. All of this contributes to a welcoming, friendly community that is safe, quiet, and relaxed. There are opportunities to meet people if interested - many residents gather by the pool/lounge/grills, and it's easy to meet people at the gym or walking the dog. (Super dog-friendly complex in every way.) LOCATION: Close to everything - Right off I-40 and 440; convenient to downtown; RTP; event venues; shopping; and groceries, pharmacies, restaurants, healthcare, and more. Very safe, quiet area (especially on evenings and weekends), close to "inside-the-beltline" neighborhood. Numerous outdoor activities "
"I lived here for 2 years and it was great. Maintenance and the office were always very helpful and accommodating. Quiet and nice community. I received my full deposit back also. Thank you Beth & Michelle!"
"Absolutely wonderful place to live. We hate to have to move across the country for work and will miss this place very much. The view is breathtaking. The pool and gym are actually well designed and motivate exercise. The grill and lounge areas around the pool are also very nice. The unit itself is very nice and feels modern with a homey touch. The business center is also well designed and a pleasure to use. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new home. ☺️"
