"I’ve stayed at quite a few IHG properties (over 120 nights last year) and I have to admit this was one of the worst stays I’ve had. First, the good: location is ideal, very central to downtown Raleigh. The receptionist was friendly. That’s about it. The rooms are small and the bathrooms tiny. The room smelled very strongly of air freshener when we arrived. The furniture has obviously seen better days. The walls were so thin that we could hear the guests in the next room all night long. And maybe, worst of all, even on the 17th floor, we heard non-stop noise from outside: train horns, sirens, yelling. This woke us up at 3am and then again at 5am. No easy fix for the poor construction of the building, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone. This was more in line with a sub-$80 motel than what I expect from an IHG property."
"Meh Stayed here for 1 night for around $150. The main reason we stayed was the location and walk ability to restaurants and bars. Issues with the room include: having to pay for parking, some obvious hair in the tub, no bathroom fan, and tiny bathroom like others have mentioned. The hair in the tub makes you question how clean the room really is. Overall I wouldn't stay here again. I'd rather shell out $50 more for somewhere else."
"I do not write reviews often but I feel I must warn others. We stayed here during a recent vacation. The bathroom was extremely small and the door was falling off the hinges at the top. You literally had to pick it up to get it to close. The toilet had to be flushed multiple times and appeared to be backed up. The sink was clogged. The shower was dirty. The rest of the room appeared clean and the linens were clean. For $280/night we expected a lot nicer accommodations. We were also advised that this building was being replaced. Our advice…stay elsewhere until the new one is completed."
"This hotel should not be classified as IHG. This place is completely falling apart, shady elevator (only one was working), carpets coming up, coffee maker disgusting, everything about this place was in terrible shape. Come to find out, they're tearing this building down in January. Do NOT stay here. The emergency button on the elevator was also broken. We traveled with our soccer team and the travel company was stupid enough to put us in a hotel that was situated on a parade route, and streets were closed. After many phone calls and complaints, we got them to open the back gate for us. Some rooms didn't have the mini fridge it was supposed to have. We were a family of 4, and there were 2 towels, and 1.5 rolls of toilet paper and when we asked for more toilet paper, they wouldn't bring us any. The bedding at least seemed clean. But the mini fridge was rusted. The window curtains were broken. This was all around an embarrassment."
"My wife and I recently stayed here as we attended the Bluegrass Festival. The 3 stars are merely for the location, cleanliness of the linens and friendliness of the staff. The bathroom is beyond small! As a gentleman, you literally cannot stand in front of the toilet and have room to close the door. There was no exhaust fan, so luckily we had a deodorizing spray. There were two toilet paper holders, and one was barely hanging on the wall and at one point came off into my wife's hand. The room itself was decent and seemed clean, but the hallway carpet was visibly stained and as others have stated, only one elevator was functioning. Then there's the breakfast and parking. We paid extra for the breakfast option only to find out later that the onsite restaurant was closed and we would only be getting the Continental breakfast. That option consisted of one coffee option and hot water for tea and instant oatmeal, packaged snacks (honey buns, multi-grain/granola bars, muffins etc.) and they were out of coffee creamer.....on a Saturday morning. As for the parking, they literally have parking built into the building, but charge you $15/night to use it. We were told that the option was to try to find street parking, which especially during a festival, was literally impossible. For roughly $500 for two nights, I have higher expectations. Unfortunately, unless it's the only option, I doubt we'll be staying here again in future visits to Raleigh."
