"DECEMBER 2023 BED BUGS!!! STAY AWAY I am not one to badmouth another business, but my experience is something that is inexcusable and needs to be shared to hopefully prevent this from happening to another family. We are a military family who has spent about 14 years living in the Wilmington area. In June, my family was relocated on military orders to Florida. In early December, we returned to the Wilmington area, so that my daughter could compete at a weightlifting competition. We stayed three nights in the Residence Inn in landfall. Unbeknownst to us at the time, this hotel room had a bedbug infestation. We returned home with additional unwanted guests, and I was covered in 47 bites at last count. I called the Residence Inn, and they confirmed that the room did, in fact, have bedbugs. It is unclear whether or not they shared this information with the guests that were in the room after us. I spoke with the general manager who verbally told me they would reimburse us for bedbug inspections and treatment in my home, as well as in my daughters apartment. This was all done days before Christmas. Had my home and my daughters apartment not been treated and cleared, we would not have been able to spend a holiday at my home, and our guests would not have been able to stay with us. I completed the treatments and submitted the receipts as requested, and Residence Inn is backpedaling. Their response to this situation is unacceptable. They acknowledged responsibility and agreed to pay us completely for these treatments, and now, after the fact, they have changed their tune. They are only reimbursing for about half of the treatment/inspection expenses. If you are in need of a hotel for yourself or guests coming to the area, I would strongly encourage you to consider lodging outside of Residence Inn in Landfall. If you had stayed there in the recent past, and you are now dealing with bedbugs, there may be a connection to your stay there. We are a middle class, military family who has been left with a pretty hefty financial burden due to no fault of our own. This establishment acknowledged that they were the source of the bedbugs, and they lack complete integrity. To tell a family you will reimburse them for remediation and then leave them with the bill is deplorable."
"This hotel is old. Our room was hot and there was a note that said we shouldn't set the thermostat to below 72 because it would freeze the unit and render it ineffective. I sleep at 68 so 72 was not a good sleeping temperature. The bed was uncomfortable. The pillows were not great either. The toilet was really loud and if you flushed it, it would run for like 20 minutes which was annoying if someone got up and used it during the night as it is right beside the bed. The room was not very clean. The refrigerator had grime and hand prints all over it. The layout was cool, but we were not staying for an extended period so I can't comment on the kitchen appliances or living room area. But all of that stuff would be cool if you were staying for a while. The TV was tiny. It's 2023, nobody is watching TV on a 27 inch TV anymore, like that's a computer monitor. I also can't comment really on the location because we weren't staying here on vacation so I knew exactly where we were staying as far as the location. But for people that aren't from the Wilmington area it's near shopping and dining in Mayfaire and not far from Wrightsville Beach. Also I saw a lot of dogs, so if you are looking for a place you can bring your dogs, this is the place. I didn't have the breakfast and can't really comment on the customer service as we only went to the front desk to check in and didn't need anything else. I imagine this place rakes in the cash during tourist season when families traveling with pets want to stay near the beach for a week. So if you meet that description and don't mind it being not that clean and the beds being uncomfortable, then this is the hotel for you. But if you are not a tourist during the summer months looking for a cheap place near the beach, then there are much nicer hotels you can pick from in the area."
"This hotel is in a great location. It is close to shopping, dining and a Food Lion. There are several restaurants within walking distance. The service here is excellent. Super friendly staff from the front desk to the housekeeping. Our room had a living room area and full kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and the walk-in shower was nice. The room was clean and spacious. My only complaint here is thin walls/floors allow you to hear every step above you if you are on first/second floor. I recommend staying on third floor if possible. This hotel is very dog friendly. Great outdoor seating areas, pool, grills, very outdoor focused. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again……on the third floor."
"I was here on a work trip during the hurricane. This was one of the nicest places I've stayed. Neither myself or my team wanted to leave. The rooms were awesome. Very well set up. Everything you could need was in the room. It was spacious and cozy. Everyone was friendly, we couldn't use the pool, because of the storm but that wasn't an issue. I truly enjoyed my stay. I would like to visit again when I wasn't working a hurricane storm call."
"This is our second year in a row staying at this hotel for a beach weekend. It is lovely! The #1 best thing is the employees! They are so friendly and nice. The rooms are clean. The pool area is beautiful and there are a few toys to enjoy at the pool. There is a basketball court as well. This is such a good place to stay when wanting to visit Wrightsville Beach. We will return!"
