"I would live elsewhere ... this complex has its problems but also the downtown area of richmond just isn't safe! 1) safety/security - there is no security. while you need a key fob to access the building, the doors don't shut all the way like they're supposed to. as a result, I know of 2 residents who have gotten their cars broken into/stolen out of the GARAGES because they entered through the front of the building! if you're going to charge us $85+/month for the garage, cars shouldn't be getting broken into or stolen; also-often times, the doors by recycle being left wide open after hours. the vending machines on the 3rd floor also have been broken into, with shattered glass being left there. 2) elevators breaking down constantly - there's a minimum of 1 email alert sent every week that the elevators are down and out of order. this is slightly a problem since there are 10 floors. 3) urgency of maintenance - my shower faucet decided to pop off of the wall and I had put in a maintenance request. It took them 4 days to caulk the faucet back onto the wall and I had to take mixing bowls into the shower to collect water to be able to bathe myself. unacceptable timeline. 4) quiet hours/weed/dog poop everywhere - not necessarily a flaw of the complex or the building, but the residents who live here don't care about the consideration of others. there's also a resident that leaves their small dog on the balcony to yip and bark for hours every day (poor thing!). 5) poor communication with management - if you email them they don't respond (and if they do it's either with incorrect information or it takes forever). you'll need to make a trip to the leasing office in the lobby to talk to someone if you need something done (this included me binging my shower faucet to them and letting them know I had submitted a maintenance request days ago. 6) ROACHES- I personally did not experience this but I know of someone who did. 7) QUALITY - I know someone whose window leaks every time it rains causing her bed to be soaking wet."
"A DEN OF THEIVES. Do not, under any circumstances, trust a word you hear from Greystar or any of their representatives. They overcharged me by 3k for rent and utilities, sent me weekly harassment mail and email asking for money that I didn't owe them...and THEN when I had proven (I had email proof) that I was drastically mischarged and that I was owed my $500 security deposit...suddenly its complete silence. Can't get in touch with anybody who will actually do anything and when I do talk to representatives, they just tell me nothing, stall me, and tell me things that aren't true. They have been illegally holding my security deposit for 3ish months now...and I don't even want to think about how many thousands of dollars they have "mischarged" people and fraudulently stolen their money. In short, I would rather live ON THE STREETS OF RICHMOND than rent from these people again. When a River's Edge representative sees this, call me immediately or the next time you will be hearing from me is correspondence from my lawyer to take your company to small claims court."
"This review is based on my experience with management since moving out. I lived here for 2 years, moved out in July. I paid $500 for my deposit, but received a refund for $170 ($200 minus utilities). I was previously told my apartment was left in great condition and that I’d be receiving my full refund so I was very confused when $300 was missing. I emailed them my receipts but didn’t get a response. I’ve called several times and every time I’m told I’m right, there was a mistake on their behalf, but they need to follow up with accounting. This all started beginning of August, it’s now October and I have no update. Every time I call I’m told someone will follow up with me, but no one does. I’ve called twice this week and no one’s answered. They seem very reluctant to resolve this issue. Advice: Keep all your move in receipts/documentation and at move out, ask staff to verify the amount of your refund before they mail your check."
"Red on the maintenance team is fantastic! He responded to our request so quickly and made sure to double check his work and ensure that we wouldn’t have the same issue again. I can tell he’s busy but his organization made us feel taken care of, he was very empathetic to how the repair was affecting us, and his expertise has us confident that we won’t have to call for this issue again. It’s such a relief to know that if anything malfunctions in our apartment (which doesn’t happen often), we have someone kind, friendly and thorough who will save the day!"
