"My daughter attended this past Summer 2022. The kids aren’t supposed to bring cell phones but her friend did and I’m so glad about that. After her 5th day she texted from the friend’s phone that she was miserable. We were able to call her at that point and learned her bunk mates were making fun of her and her friends with code names right in front of them, she had also done the same activities for the past 4 days without getting to pick anything new (isn’t the point to try many new things?) and the food was horrific. At this point the director stepped in to remedy the activity planning and stop the nastiness in the bunk. I’m grateful to her but perplexed at how the counselors, also in the bunk, let that go on. It seemed so obvious that they looked the other way. As a new camper I thought she’d get checked up on more often and not once things escalated. i also thought a manager, girls division leader or someone of the like would help the unit leader and reach out to me about how the situation was being remedied but I got nothing. Even my feedback after the experience fell on deaf ears. I expect a lengthy reply on here like others have gotten but it doesn’t matter now. Had she just gotten more support as a new camper and some awareness in the bunk, she could have managed with the bad food. It’s unfortunate. It could have been worse. She told me some of the male counselors made other girls uncomfortable with their comments! The bottom line is camp has a lot of potential, great space and nice ideas but the leadership and attention is lacking (not to mention the cuisine- don’t send picky eaters! Every staff member I spoke to agreed that the food at best “left something to be desired”)."
"Children had a great, GREAT experience this summer 2022. Everything was well organized and well communicated. Lots of kids from the NYC area and it was the perfect getaway for summer kids. A lot of activities and NO screen time for the kids. Next time we would probably send them over for more weeks. Safe, clean, and lota of summer activities for the kids."
"My son participated in this camp during 2021. There were 14 young boys in one cabin with only one adult (we were told there would be only 8 kids in the cabin)! The kids were mean and cursed during the week and the camp did not address it. When I reported it to the camp directors (Matt and Rose), they never responded to my email. The many activities that were shown on the video were not available (the ropes course for example) due to being understaffed. My son (and his three other friends who were all first time campers) actively disliked their experience. I will also say that the camp responded to my review within 12 hours of my posting but as a parent I emailed and didn’t hear anything for two weeks. This Camp clearly cares more about image than actual responsiveness to parents or the camper experience. (Edit: to address the second response to this review, which stated they could not find my email, I received an email response directly to my email (and a call) within a few days of posting the review but two weeks without a response prior to posting this review. The only way to get a response from this camp is to post a negative review. Since the response to my review below below calls into question whether I sent the email correctly, I have uploaded photos of the emails below—the original email and then the follow up email 12 days later. You will see it was only when I threatened to write bad reviews that I heard back from the camp). We were not told in advance about activities being closed, and we were assured that although there were Covid staffing issues there would be enough staff to run a great camp. This was not my son’s experience. There are many awesome camps out there and parents should know that the directors are unresponsive except to reviews."
"My daughter went here for band camp. It was our first time at a new camp, after using the same camp for many, many years, and we couldn't have been happier!! There were many comments of, "why didn't we switch sooner", and I know the kids all really want to go back next year. The food was good, cabins were nice and clean, field house was HUGE and the field they used was nice and had lights for night practicing!! It can be stressful as a mom to send your child away, but after meeting the staff and seeing the facilities I felt comfortable with her being there. Thank you to everyone who made this a wonderful camp experience for all our kids!!"
