"They're listed in the rent Cafe website but they do not accept Section 8"
"Ocean and I are very excited to be moving to our new home... and have had the pleasure of meeting a few of our neighbors... now we can say that we will be living in one of the best communities in Goodyear AZ... so please feel free to stop in and say hello..."
"I just want to share my experience that I’m having with the fact of disabled people trying to get a decent parking spot. We don’t have ramps to go down at times we have to park a block and a half away to get into the elevator we have courtesy of carts that we can use to carry our groceries up but in the meantime, we can’t get the groceries on the cart and the cart up on the sidewalk, without a ramp they do us no good. I lived in apartments and you had assigned parking spots with 180+ apartments in this complex. One more handicap space is not going to be enough and we are refused ramps. I enjoy being here. I’ve met new friends, but the rules are getting to change and now they’re not concerned about the disabled they said that we’re an active community but they didn’t tell me that you couldn’t be disabled if you wanted to move in here. I have tried and tried to get the manager to call me back, I left a message yesterday with the receptionist she answered the receptionist she didn’t bother to call the tenant. I am disabled and walk with a walker. I have to get my walker up the step from the street to the curb and only have one good leg for stepping up so should I trip or the walker roll back on my other foot I am out of luck and down on the ground And I would hope not causing a serious injury"
"I am leaving my original review as it was correct one year ago. This complex has had multiple management turnovers and are instituting rules that go against basic civil liberties such as freedom of speech and freedom to assemble. It's getting to feel like the Brown Shirts are in charge. Pets are not "welcomed". You can have them and pay for them as long as they aren't seen or enjoyed in the public areas. "Resident led events" are encouraged as long as you are not going to speak with your neighbors about the poor mismanagement of this facility. Professional signs have appeared all over the property telling us what we can't do. Clear glass that fostered an open welcome environment has been frosted over to seclude us from interaction. A young couple (30 something) has been hired to act as intermediaries to the management team as the management team do not want to be bothered with the petty concerns of the residents. Oh! And you have to email them, no texting, no calling. (The residents are all over 55 btw) A resident meeting room has been commandeered by management as the five office spaces given to them were not enough. Security is not only NOT a concern, we are told that gates are to protect Mera; not us and are left open all day, every day. Upon bringing security concerns to management (front doors left unlocked for over a month), the only door that managed to get secured was the clubhouse door that all residents utilize. I am so saddened by these changes. I do not recommend to anyone until changes to regional management is made and basic civil liberties are reinstated. *Original* Mera Goodyear is a brand new community. Not much to look at from the outside but the inside is spectacular! If you want to be where there is a sense of community but you don’t want the “assisted living” feel, this is the place. The opportunities to come together as a community are plentiful. There are yoga classes in the wellness center, community meals in the bistro, media center to watch movies or sports with others, library, game room and so much more. The residents vary in age from 50 to 90. You have full time workers, semi-retired & fully retired. The staff is superb! I plan to make this my forever home."
"I was totally disappointed in my experience. I was told that their would be many people in the 55 to 60 age range. I have not seen anyone my age. I am 56. Upon move in, I found dented appliances. The flooring is not finished to the base boards. You can see concrete through huge gaps. The trim is uneven, and beat up. Paint is spattered all over the floors! My patio door does not lock. The frame has settled, and totally won’t lock. My thermostat is only 40 inches off the floor, and behind the television. It’s the only place the tv can go. The ac won’t shut off when I’m watching tv do to the heat from the tv. Their is always air in the water lines. The outside doors aren’t secure, and anyone can walk in and roam free. The person that you speak to for these issues is Kimberly Franks. Totally dismissive, and rude when I speak to her. She claims she wasn’t there when It was built, and they don’t have a maintenance manager. The most rude person I’ve ever encountered in her position. She does absolutely nothing when I report my problems. I am breaking my lease, and shouldn’t have to pay a fee. The place is unsecured, and unsafe! Hopefully someone from corporate sees this and gives me some help."
