"This was a fun place, if you like and/or your trip accommodates a funky experience. It feels like a residential dormatory house on a college campus, so the rooms are clean and the public spaces look lived in! At 1/2 - 13 the price of places nearby, ELIH is just as close and convenient if you are meeting business clients, go to 5th Market Inn and pay their prices. Otherwise bring your guitar and hang. Surprise! I didn't know my suite had a shared bathroom, so jusat as I was drifting off I saw someone going into "my" bathroom from the ajoining bedroom. We had a good laugh!"
"Amazing artsy place, well worth a visit! Great loving staff that creates a home away from home! Big kitchen with all cutlery you need and the breakfast was great, it’s a self made breakfast, with eggs and great coffee and pancakes! So many art places in the hostel, great little library upstairs! It’s also close to lots of cute little places! A great coffee roasters in front and great bars in 5/10 min walk Massive garden! Must be lots of fun in summers!"
"I loved staying at the Eugene Hostel. For me -- I'm 72 years old -- it was a totally amazing throw back to the good old days! It was more than "vaguely reminiscent" but was a wonderful, living continuation of a time of casual, comfortable openness and acceptance of people sharing space, sharing food, sharing music and stories and more. I loved it! TBH, the facilities are all plain and simple. That's what I expect in a place called a 'hostel'. The entire atmosphere was delightful and I hope to come back some day."
"I've stayed at many different hostels, and this was great for a quick overnight as I was passing through Eugene. Lucky for me, on a weeknight off-season, I had a bunk room to myself. Staff were friendly, common spaces were well taken care of, and other guests were respectful. Tall people beware that I hit my head on the bunk above me. Only request is for additional reading lights and outlets or power strips for each bunk."
"Staff was friendly & knowledgeable, rooms were comfortable, clean, and wonderfully decorated. A breath of fresh air from the usual sterile hotels I’ve stayed at in the past. Reading room/library was very impressive with its selection, bathrooms were clean, breakfast options were mid, but plenty of great food and entertainment locations all around within walking distance. I’ll definitely be back!"
