"This used to be my favorite safeway until they literally put in bars and added more security. Now I just feel like I'm treated like a criminal when I go in to buy groceries. The bars themselves make you feel like you better buy something before you leave or else. It's just tacky and reeks for corporate greed."
"It has begun to incredibly unsafe in here because of the new gates, metal bars and security. Like other people in recent reviews I will also not be returning to this store until all the new “anti theft” features are removed. Put in effort to make your community and neighborhood a better place instead of making your store more difficult and hostile to be in. This is my closest grocery store by far and I’d rather drive miles away to go to a different store at this point."
"The lines are incredibly long and the self checkout is a bear to use. The recent chains and bars they're installed make it feel like a Jail-Way and I really hope they go back to hiring enough staff to get rid of the bars. It's a disappointing change for what used to be the best grocery store in the area"
"I drive across town to shop at this store because it’s one of the best run groceries in Portland. The produce section is seemingly always well stocked regardless of time of day, and good quality and selection. Other departments are above average too. The managers have been there it seems for over a decade and they obviously take pride in running a good business day in and day out. Other stores should emulate this one and aim for its standards and results."
