"Horribly understaffed. Usually has 1 lane open all day and the rest of the customers have to go through self checkout. Self checkout is often broken or just slow. The staff is all very friendly and they're great at their jobs but you need to HIRE MORE PEOPLE"
"This past weekend I went in to complete an Uber Eats shop and pay order. It was two items. A black man with a beanie and face covering followed me around the store all the way to the self-checkout even though I was only there ten minutes. He very rudely told me to go towards a certain exit after my purchase. I feel strongly that there was a racial component to this mans attitude because I was the only white person there out of about a dozen other customers."
"I do delivery shopping here sometimes and Rodney at the front is the best. His energy is contagious and he always makes me smile, which is probably the best quality in a front of house worker. I leave feeling happier than when I walk in. Five stars for the whole store because of this guy!"
"I recently visited the Safeway store in Portland, and I have to say that it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a supermarket. There were a few issues that left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. Firstly, the bathroom situation was incredibly inconvenient. It seemed that someone had to open the bathroom door for customers, which resulted in long wait times. This process felt unnecessary and slowed down the flow of customers. Secondly, it took an unusually long time to get assistance from staff members. I encountered a situation where I needed help, but the response time was disappointingly slow. It would have been appreciated if there were more employees readily available to assist customers in a timely manner. Overall, my experience at Safeway left much to be desired. I hope that the store management takes these points into consideration and makes improvements to enhance the shopping experience for customer."
"Safeway is Safeway. Buy the groceries and go home. But not a bad Safeway, pretty busy, gets lots of traffic. They usually have what we need on the shelf. It's a pretty basic store, a decent amount of vegetarian options, good produce, and a bakery that is always busy. All the employees are usually nice, the store is clean and rarely cluttered. Bathroom is clean."
