Dunnwood Acres Apartments

"Not a great place at all. Pricewise it was the best decision. But it was horrible. things broke all the time. We got locked out, and they took an hour and a half to get to our apartment, during the summer. Missouri Summer isn't fair. maintenance is one man, and he can't do it all. Our neighbors AC was broken for a month, they had to go buy air conditioning units or they would have sweated the whole summer. We asked them to fix a bunch of stuff before we left. Never got fixed. Then about 2 months before our lease was up, our hallway ceiling started caving in. took me 3 times calling to find out that all they had done was call a company to come fix it. Meanwhile, the ceiling is buckling from water damage. They said we could end our lease early, and we wouldnt owe (Due to the threat of mold, and if it caved in could damage us or our items). After confirming we didn't owe for september, they go around and attempt to get rent for September. Unprofessional. Unless you ABSOLUTELY have no where else to go, don't go here."

"This is our second night in the townhomes, the basement flooded gray water. They called the plumber that is contracted/works with them. He came and fixed the issue with the basement flooding but tracked gray water all over the basement. The plumber took the machine outside through the sliding glass door and bent the frame. Shortly after the plumber left the water from the washer hookup, with no washer hooked up to it, began to leak a large amount of water. We could not close it and had to turn off the water to the rest of the townhouse. Called the maintenance emergency line multiple times and after a few calls it was picked up. We were told someone would be out but not given a time as they were working on a furnace. Water is currently rushing onto the basement floor and we can no longer shut the back door to the townhouse. After two and a half hours we called again and after 5 calls someone picked up, told again someone would be sent and given no time. The first person we called told us someone was supposed to have come already and did not check back with us or them to make sure if this. To fix the water issue ourselves we hooked up the washer to stop the basement from flooding a second time. After 30 minutes of not being able to close our sliding glass door we called again and were told someone would be sent but not given a time. This time we were told only one person was working the emergency line and was not on property but would get there as soon as they could. It’s been an hour now and still no response from the emergency maintenance line about the backdoor not closing in winter. This is only our second night in the townhome."

"The management is amazing and so is the matience. Only thing is the place need to be renovated BADLY!!!! Matience does what they can and they come to fix thing very fast the only thing is that they have to come over A LOT. If everything at the place wasn't so old then it would be a great place to live. I saw a roach twice but that's it. Again REALLY NEEDS RENOVATION!! I'd move back if they did. Also the electric bill in the summer was ridiculous! Our bill got up to $340!! Which is crazy we only have the temp set to 75."

"Horrible place to live. Very old and poorly maintained buildings. Windows leak water and bring in all of the mositure, and cold and hot air depending on the season. Electric bill is very high due to the poor windows and the age of the furnace/ac. Neighbors are horrible, argue right outside your apartment door, smoke weed, throw trash everywhere. Had the swat team at my door one morning looking for a fellow tenant. They do absolutely nothing to maintain the inside or outside of the apartment and when you move they charge you for carpet replacement and for them to prime the walls, even though you lived there for ten years and it needed to be replaced because of normal wear and tear. The office never calls back with just one message, must leave multiple. The only reason they get one star is because of the cheap rent, which you make up for with a high electric bill. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone."

"Why it gets 2 stars: 1. one of the cheapest in North North-County. 2. Good way to build up credit and leasing history. Why it didn't get any more: During our 2 year stay we had 40 year old windows that leaked air massively; no effort was made to replace windows, and after many complaints I was advised that unless I signed another 2 year lease they would not do so. Maintenance was pretty much awful - the main guy was a good guy but corporate gave him almost no budget. Reasons I'd never rent there again: 1. repeatedly fixing old appliances will eventually cost more than putting new ones in. Stupid. 2. 200+ dollar (monthly) electric bill in summer to keep my 600 sq ft. apt. at 78 degrees (kind of) since all the air leaked out. 3. having to badger leasing office and maintenance for 3+ months (if ever it happened) to get a fix on anything. 4. a lot of riff raff, jerry springer style tenants. 5. constant, unattended-to wasp infestations. 6. "amenities" were awful. No one kept to the open/close times of the pool, laundry machines had cold water only, and despite pointing this out several times and being told they'd look into it, nothing was ever done. Constantly broken, quarter eating dryers never really fixed. 7. Windows eventually leaked literal torrents of water during rain. No response. 8. Sharp, rusted air conditioner casings. Get a tetanus shot if you plan to change your filter. 9. Stovetop completely bent inward (not by us), no response. 10. Many units left unaddressed with black mould, leaking roofs. I may remember more stuff. For now this is it."
