Comfort Inn Lakeside

"If you're used to the Comfort Inn brand, you'll be disappointed by this quite dated, worn, and sad property. I'm surprised it even meets the Comfort Inn brand quality checks. This seems like a one off property. It's more a roadside motel vibe with outside rooms, no laundry room, no breakfast on property (it's at the motel next door), no microwave (no big deal but there is a big hole where it should be in the room). We picked this property because it was one of the two most expensive per night but that clearly didn't equate to quality. To be clear everything was affordable in the area this week. Very late 80s/early 90s look and feel. Dark. Everything is dark, worn and aged. The doors, corridors and stairs are dingy, dirty, not fresh. The bathroom shower/tub divertor was old and didn't function as intended. The fixtures were rusted. Spider webs over the lights and in every ceiling corner of the room. Stains on ceiling above sink and main room. The coffeemaker was dirty with rust spots. I wouldn't touch it. The wifi was virtually unusable. We just switched to using our mobile data... It was faster. I think the room was clean enough and most importantly the bedding and towels were clean and newish. Pluses : The bed comfort itself was fine. The staff at the front desk were friendly. We paid and extra $20/night for a balcony, Lakeview which was a nice plus. Short walk to most places in Mackinaw City. Knowing what we know, we'd choose staying on the island vs the city next time. Overall, the whole place didn't convey a welcoming, comfortable, clean experience. I can't imagine a reason I'd choose this property again, when they are so many other choices around."

"I really enjoyed the location. I had a room right on the lake with a great view of the weekend fireworks and enjoyed listening to the waves at night. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The fridge and microwave came in handy. Breakfast wasn't an issue for me as I am not a breakfast person. Overall an enjoyable experience."

"Booked a king with jacuzzi, there was good and bad with our stay. Good: jacuzzi tub, bedding, bathroom, and living space seemed cleaned(minus the cobwebs in the light in the bathroom), location was perfect, and nice sandy beach. Bad: bed was extremely hard, the room had a distinct smell kinda musty, tv remote had a mind of its own, more of a motel feel then hotel, no dirty laundry bags, breakfast was at completely different hotel and wasn’t appetizing. We would probably not stay again because of the bed, neither of us got any sleep and left with a sore back."

"Well for for the price... I would have expected a little nicer. The tub was clogged. They had to have maintenance come up at 11pm to unclog it. They asked if we had the plug lever flipped. Nope... there isn't one! Oh, and there is gum in the door stopper in the bathroom! The carpet needs to be professionally cleaned or replaced. The sliding screen door is off the track and there are some stains on the ceiling! The breakfast.... do not go!! Eat elsewhere. Check in... the ladies at the front desk were very nice and accommodating."

"You get what you pay for. It’s a great location, but it’s very outdated. We walked to the ferry boats from our hotel room, which was convenient. Our room was clean for the most part, but there were a few areas that were neglected and there was a questionable brown stain by a light switch. No matter what time we took a shower, the water would always cycle through hot and cold the entire time. We didn’t pay extra for the lakeside view, so the door for the room is accessible from the outside, which gives off motel vibes and we didn’t really like that. Overall, the hotel was confusing to navigate and just needs to be picked up a bit."
