Bayside Hotel of Mackinac

"Tv remote had no batteries. Never did work all weekend. No big deal since I have a iPad and stream anyway but a discount for the nonworking tv would have been nice. Beeping fire alarm quickly addressses by staff which was appreciated. They were literally doing the best they could. Check in was a nightmare. Went to the Fairfield then back to bayside finally ending at the crown. Due to wrong signage. Huge line took 45 minutes to check in. Very dog friendly however and that was appreciated. It’s quiet during the week and we were left to ourselves which was nice. I did notice rude travelers with no respect throwing trash everywhere and not cleaning their beer cans or plastic at the lake beach which is disrespectful and rude to say the least. No wonder the hospitality is overwhelmed and overworked and Blair too tolerant of entitled jerks. Other guests were very rude to hotel staff for no reason."

"Very displeased. My professional opinion would indicate that this is a very poorly run establishment. The sheets were visibly soiled, pink mold was observed in the grout of the bathroom and the debris on the windows did not allow viewing. When I requested a different room, I was told to wait until the next day, which was unacceptable. I elected to leave and informed the front desk of my departure. I was at the establishment for less than an hour, and I was charged for a full night stay. I had to challenge the charge with my credit card issuer to get a refund. The manager of the establishment did not treat the staff or me with respect when I requested a refund. As a frequent traveler, this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with an establishment. Proceed with caution if deciding to stay here."

"The staff was very friendly, check in was easy and the room was clean. For the price and having access to an indoor waterpark it's a good deal. However, the hotel is not that old but has not been maintained properly. The sign with changeable letters still says "Grand Opening 2017" The exterior has mold all over it. The waterpark area is so hot and humid due to improper ventilation systems that they have the pool attendant opens a large door to let cool air in from the outside. I wouldn't want to be there in the summer heat! It seems like the owners are just trying to rake in a much money as possible and will probably then sell the property when the maintenance concerns force them into costly repairs and renovations"

"Location is great. Staff are very helpful. Hotel looks to need a few good maintenance people. Spotted torn and damaged walls/wallpaper, crooked lamps, and many other small maintenance fixes that need attended to. This hotel needs a very good deep clean on walls and bathroom grout, all very yellow looking. The daily housekeeping seem to be doing their job, but definitely needs good deep cleaning across the whole hotel. Air Conditioning works great. Water park had too much chlorine, itchy and eyes burned after. Like that they have packages and discounts for a lot of stores and restaurants in town. Tip: check in to the hotel before going to eat in Mackinaw City. They could save you some money! All in all, 3 stars."
