Sunrise Beach Motel

"The worst place I've ever been. Our room smelled like urine and we asked to change rooms. She gives us another room with two twin beds and the condition of the room was disgusting. We asked for our money back and she refused to refund us our purchase. This place is a scam and I really hope Expedia steers you away from this place"

"Very disappointed! Hardest bed we've ever attempted to sleep on (went to our van to sleep instead). Came back to the room in the morning to shower and when the next room flushed the toilet, the water went ice cold in the shower, and then came back with hot scalding water!!! There was no enjoying the beach or bridge views because to get there you had to walk thru animal feces everywhere!!! Definitely no keeping up on the grounds! Also the room only had was a small space heater that was blocking exiting the bed (if we had stayed in it) causing major safety concerns. Also there was no one in the office until street 9 am to be able to contact for concerns."

"We got transferred to this motel from another hotel by the same owners because they refused to give us a refund for our previous room. This room was better than the other motel (Bridgeview), but this place was still musty, smelled like cigarettes, the slider to the balcony didn’t lock and had holes in the screen door, there were missing and loose tiles on the bathroom floor, and it was overall very dusty. While the room had a nice view, I would not stay here again. Especially with young children."

"Little hidden beach motel in a crazy busy tourist area. I loved that it was tucked away from the busy tourist areas but still had easy access to all the sites. Our room had a walkout patio that the beach came right up to. It was amazing to wake up to the sound of the waves crashing just steps away from our door. The beds were super comfy and the room was very clean. We had some spiders in the room but it’s northern Michigan and a beach property so it’s expected. What wasn’t expected was how quickly they came to take care of that issue and make sure we were comfortable. My husband and I loved being able to have a fire right on the beach while looking at the lights of the bridge. We will be back for sure. This place is a great value for the little it cost."

"My review didn't make it to the "official" website for this motel. Our stay was scheduled the end of July. I booked through the Mackinaw Tourism site, I should have done more research beforehand. It was not clean. I can handle outdated with no problem but not filthy. I didn't get a refund and didn't expect that I would. I opted to not stay and went down the road. The floor was dirty with debris and hair, the sheets were clean, but the blanket and comforter were soiled to the point that I didn't want my kiddos sitting on the bed. The microwave had food particles left in it, the walls were dirty, dead bugs on the windowsills. The pool had algae and was cold. The hot tub was drained, I even called the day before to make sure there was a working hot tub and was told "yes". It was awful. The front desk staff were friendly. They offered to have it cleaned again but the cleaning person had just finished so I didn't have confidence that it would be done right the second time. The trash bags from the rooms sat outside the door, untied. The trash bins were overflowing with trash, the beach had litter everywhere. The view was pretty but that is available at other places down the street. I don't know how it passes code."
