"I love my apartment and the environment! Everyone in the building is very respectful and quiet, which is really wonderful as you don't have to worry about people being loud. The location is awesome too, because you are in walking distance to the cuyahoga river. Todd who does maintenance for the units is also always available and ready to always help! I've been living here for a little over two years and don't see myself moving anytime soon as I'm really satisfied with my home!"

"Great place to live at. I lived here for 4 years and I enjoyed it. The Manager, Todd, is very helpful and understanding. He is very responsive and supportive and handy. Recycling can be the next improvement they can take care of. Definitely affordable with great location and neighborhood. Bus stop right in front of the building."

"I lived at the diplomat for 2 years. It was such a great apartment complex to live in. Greg the landlord was so kind to us through the entire process. Any time we had any questions he answered it right away! Todd the maintenance manager really was a huge reason we loved it there. He was so kind to everyone, and was so willing to help us no matter the problem. I accidentally locked myself out of the apartment numerous times and Todd came to our rescue every time with a good attitude. His customer service skills are some of the best I’ve ever seen. As far as the apartment goes, it was very spacious. I would have friends and family over for holidays and other occasions. I have a big family and we were never cramped. I’m so happy I came across the diplomat, and I would recommend it everyone I know who is looking for an apartment. Thank you Diplomat!!!"

"While living here, my car was stolen from their parking lot. Some cameras on site were not functional and didn’t capture the theft. Akron PD did recover my car several days later. I, unfortunately, had to call Akron Police WELL OVER a dozen times living here due to vandalism and other ongoing issues. Management was slow to complete repairs and the property manager was extremely hesitant to complete necessary repairs (think ceiling water damage from neighbors above or huge hornets nest/yellow jackets in the apartment). Some major things were never addressed at all. I had to call the building owner, directly, to get anything done. The Property Manager became belligerent, unprofessional and argumentative towards me at the end of my time living there (2020). I was let out of my lease early by the building owner. Akron University students lived next to me and would stay awake through all hours of the night blasting music or partying. Sometimes until sunrise. This was common during the work week. They finally get evicted/leave and the next neighbor is a cigarette chain smoker and my apartment smelled like their cigarettes. Walls are thin enough to hear your neighbor snoring or when they use the bathroom, etc. The windows were cheap and didn’t seal well. Appliances were old and energy inefficient. The apartment was very drafty and cold in the winter. Even with “free heat”. Smells (usually pungent) wafted through the vents. There are many other unpleasant things I could say. The proximity to Cuyahoga Falls or Akron is a nice benefit. Some of the other neighbors who live in the building were very nice, as well. The building is a short walk (less than 5min) to trail access for the Gorge Metropark which is a really nice option, too. That said, for just slightly more money per month, there are much nicer options nearby. Having lived at The Diplomat for 5yrs, I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere."

"This is a wonderful place to live! My husband and I rented a 2-bedroom here until our jobs brought us elsewhere, and we're devastated to leave. Management/maintenance staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They know everyone's name and respond to maintenance issues immediately. Our neighbors were a GREAT community of people, from students, to families, to retired adults--and from all over the world. I can't remember ever having a negative interaction with anyone. The units are clean and well-kept, with very spacious rooms and beautiful large windows (that overlook the Cuyahoga Valley if you're on the west side, while the morning sunrise pours into the east side). The walls and floors are so well-built that we almost never heard our neighbors. It's right on the bus route, just a few minutes from downtown Akron and Uakron, and there's covered parking spaces for most vehicles. Parking lots are always plowed in winter, and there's a patio with a grill and tables for barbecue in the summer. I do wish the building recycled, and there is occasional maintenance done on the elevator (but they always give plenty of notice, and are extremely accommodating of individual residents' needs)."
