The Heritage at White Pond

"After almost 1 month of living here I’m going to share my experience already. So before even moving back We called many places on the west side of Akron to see who was available one was this place which was already hard to contact, nobody answered the phone for days before we finally reached the leasing agent so red flag number 1. When we finally got ahold of her she was nice so we gave it a chance despite the reviews being awful but almost all reviews for apartments in Akron was bad and this was the only one available at the time we needed. So we told her we were military and coming from VA she offered to do a FaceTime walkthrough which the apartment looked decent and clean. She said we would get a military discount which is less than what their website says ( and no she would not honor what the website said ) anyways we get back to Akron finally to sign our lease and she shows us the apartment in person & we had 48 hours to let her know what was wrong if anything. From walking in our building the smell is awful because nobody has cleaned the hallways, they have not updated these apartments since they’ve been built. I had to clean every wall from them being so dirty and something yellowish dripping down every wall in the apartment, the baseboards were very dirty, the appliances had crumbs in them, the kitchen “ island “ isn’t even connected from the countertop to the base. The toilet was dirty, I used my carpet cleaner to clean the carpet just because I do that before moving our furniture in and it was so much dirt and pet hair left in every room, even dog hair was stuck to the walls. Our balcony had dog poop on it and we were told to just sweep it off. Just about every part of this apartment was disgusting. Only part I like is location, apartments come with cable and WiFi, parking isn’t bad and we can’t hear our neighbors at all inside the apartment ( top floor ) but try not to move here is my advise & fitness “ center “ sucks. Also to add, before moving in we asked about any leaking ceilings ( because of reviews) so we’ve had some heavier rain recently and although the ceiling isn’t leaking YET you can see the huge stains created on the ceiling and walls from it raining. UPDATE: the ceiling does leak, also water will come through the vents and windows as well. And cable and WiFi is no longer included"

"THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE IN AMERICA!! It would be a 0 star, but you have to pick one! These guys are nothing but slum lords. My ceiling caved in during the middle of January 2022 and as of June 1st, 2022 it had still not been fixed!! It was a 4ft x 4ft hole! I sent 17 emails, called daily for 5 months, stopped in the main office weekly, left over 30 + voicemails and NEVER GOT THE ISSUE RESOLVED!! To make matters worse, 3 days before resigning my lease they refused to lease to me!!! HOW? Because THEIR CEILING CAVED IN??!! Absolute worst experience of my life!!!"

"The leasing company is awful. The company lost all of my paper work 3 separate times. They closed work orders without addressing the concern. I finally gave up and never had a screen door and my air conditioning unit leaked every time it rained. They completed a walk through with me and filled out paper work stating the apartment was ok and verbally told me I would need be charged. I was then charged for over $400 cleaning. Most of it was for two spots on the carpeting that I didn't notice. It would have taken me less then 10 min to carpet clean with the cleaner I had sitting out during the walk through. The apartments themselves are ok and I barely saw my neighbors. However, the walls are very thin and I could hear word for word conversations taking place in the apartment above me. I would not recommend living in any of Castle apartments' 3 properties if you can avoid it. You will be taken advantage of for doing so."

"If I could rate a zero I would. Very poor experience. for one the roof leaks, it will always leak and they will not fix it. You can put in all the requests you want. The office lady was nice however I witnessed first hand how cruel and in compassionate the ones over her are. I waited outside of their office to speak with someone as they cursed, yelled, and ignored me. This is not even my worst experience. In the roof above my unit I believe a squirl climbed in a hole which was able to due to old and poor roof structure. The squirl would climb through the A/C vents and literally urinate and it would fall on the floor. Not to mention everyone else''s complaints about security deposits. They will try to find anything to charge you an arm and a leg for the most minor procedures and half of them are their fault! I did a walk through upon move out and she only noted the carpet and oven would need cleaning. I receive a bill for all sorts of additional things. (like $325 for refinishing a coz box??) Beware signing with these guys!"

"This was the worst place I have ever had to live. Thankfully it was only for a short time but in the three months I did live there, there was a number of issues I had with the place. Management is difficult to work with and maintenance is inconsiderate and non helpful. The particular building I was housed in was undergoing renovation during my stay and without any sort of notice maintenance would conveniently let themselves in and out of my apartment at will. The building was infested with with squirrels and other rodents that you consistently heard running through the ceiling throughout then evening/night and because of this infestation the apartment complex made all the residents of the building remove all the food from their cabinets and push all their furniture to the center of the room so that they could fumigate the place. Luckily I had to be out of town for work during the week this happened but other residents had to live/eat/sleep in their freshly fumigated homes. The building constantly smelled of curry powder and marajuna and you could not have a packaged delivered to the mail room because it would be stolen. The bathroom constantly had issues and the place was absolutely filthy when I moved in, I spent the first 3 days of living there cleaning it. Upon leaving the place they screwed me out of 50% of of security deposit, citing an unclean stove as reasoning for keeping $150. Despite the fact that within the 3 months I lived there I may have actually been on site maybe 6 weeks, I'm not sure that I used the stove more than 5 times. The place is a complete scam and an absolute mess. I'm not a person that typically writes bad reviews but in this case I feel its worth the time to do it. Hopefully someone who reads this may reconsider dealing with these people if they're at all avoidable"
