Ascend RVA

"ONE OF THE WORST PLACES TO STAY. Not only do they overcharge but the leasing office is so rude. You can hear EVERYTHING the people that live on top, right, and left do EVERY SINGLE FOOT STEP. THE wood creaks, its a "new" building, but cheaply made. Its ridiculous, you pay 1500 just to live in a dump, with air conditioning not working, and maintenance NOT coming at all. The leasing office finds a new way to enter the apartment every single month, sometimes with NO NOTICE. I woke up to 2 males in the apartment, THEY JUST LET THEM IN WITH NO NOTICE. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOME WHERE ELSE!!!!!"

"I wish I could give Ascend ZERO stars! I moved in when these apartments were first built last year and it turned into a nightmare quickly! The management doesn’t care to fix your issues unless they like you. We had some of the amenities taken away from us because that residents are nasty and let their pets pee in the hallway and not clean it up. People get wasted and throw up all over the place and the staff have no urgency to clean it up. When I took hot steamy showers, I would sneeze a lot, nasal drip, watery eyes so I think my bathroom had mold but it was covered up. The office staff were not inviting at all and acted like they had an attitude because you were bothering them even though it’s their job! I left because I was starting to see roaches in my unit and our unit was clean, we were starting to get gnats, and there was talk about rats because people aren’t clean and don’t put their trash down the trash chute! I’ve had two of my packages stolen and I even signed up for the parcel mail boxes. Look at the low star reviews because those are true! The high star reviews are from people who have gotten a tour or from parents who doesn’t even stay there! Also don’t even fill out the roommate survey because they don’t honor it! I put on my survey no pets because of my allergy and still got a roommate who had a cat and they had the nerve to say they thought I just didn’t want any pets in the apartment. There’s no where on the survey to put you have an allergy! If people say they don’t want any pets then there’s reason why! It took me 4 months for them to solve the dang on issue!!! There’s other apartments you can apply to! Drive around and I’m telling you, you’ll find an apartment! You could pay the same price in rent for an apartment to have no roommates! Or maybe more but anything is better than Ascend."

"I feel like this place could have so much potential to be a great student apartment. The little get togethers and engagement opportunities are cute but I feel like they put too much time in advertising and marketing versus actually making the apartment run efficiently. I think the leasing officers do the best they can with the management they are working with, but I feel like they can be more helpful and inviting as well since it is some people’s first apartment. On the outside ascend may look super nice and expensive but it needs some work. The amenities are not what they could be and elevator inspection and fire inspections were expired."

"Although the staff work with what they have providing a fun and engaging environment for the community of residents at Ascend, I think the management has some flaws to sort out. The security of the building could be improved, as well as cleanliness of the amenities. There also has been some issues in overcharging rent and insurance. Communication between staff and residents is often difficult and not easily accessible."

"My daughter loves her studio apartment. The layout is super cute and furnished with the basics. She enjoys her full size kitchen, outdoor patio and amenities the complex provides. Thankfully we were able to get her a car parking pass for the complex. As a parent I am happy they have a good security system of how to get into the parking garage and apartment complex. She does gripe about the app not working frequently to get into the complex."
