Allen House Victorian Inn

"Excellent experience! I visited in June 2022 and loved it so much I had to come back the next year. The couple who run the place are very kind and helpful, and had great tips for things to do and places to visit. They really went above and beyond and made it a special and relaxing time. Definitely recommend visiting! The Allen House location has several friendly cats and is great if you like animals. If not, or if you have allergies, the Amherst Inn is run by the same people and is a few minutes’ walk away. The rooms in both locations are clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Cozy beds and generous breakfast (especially recommend the banana bread). The location is beautiful – super green with a pretty garden, and the Emily Dickinson museum is right across the street. There are excellent restaurants in the area (Ann from the Inn recommended Johnny’s, and I would too). It’s just a couple minutes’ walk from downtown Amherst in one direction, and in the other is a natural area where you can watch the fireflies at certain times of year. I had a wonderful time and hope to visit again soon!"

"This is the B&B I stayed at with my parents when I was having my admissions interview at Hampshire College. It had been recommended by a friend of the family who was a visiting professor at Amherst College, who taught up at Bennington. What can I say? I was a product of two prof's, and the Allen House was NOT listed on Hampshire's list of "places to stay near campus." Anyway, the Allen House is a REALLY NICE place. Quaint, a bit secluded and VERY charming. I have ALWAYS recommended it, and I stayed here again myself in 2020 when I flew back to Massachusetts all the way from California for Hampshire's 50th anniversary celebration back in 2020."

"My partner and I loved our short stay at this B and B. The hosts are very kind and sweet. The house is beautiful with incredible wall paper in every room. The room and bathroom were very clean. You can see that this house is well cared for. This home is unique and conveniently located. We are looking forward to coming back next year :)"

"The owners of this inn and phenomenal. They offer free breakfast right down the street, gave us a map of the local area, told us about their favorite things to do, and they have the cutest hypo-allergenic rag doll cats. The traditional Victorian home is beautiful and very well maintained. We had our own room with no disturbances and our own room key. If we are ever back in the area we will stay here again! It’s the happiest place my husband and I have ever stayed. The place was quiet, the house was beautiful, the owners were helpful!"

"My boyfriend Chris and I had to travel to Amherst for a wedding and I had always wanted to stay in a historic bed and breakfast, and we found this treasure. As an avid antiques lover and historic architecture enthusiast, I was in heaven! Within minutes of walking through the front door, I was in tears because I was overcome with the beauty and perfect attention to detail. What a gorgeous place! The innkeeper Ann showed us everything, and was so gracious! Her husband Alan is sweet and kind, we all bonded over this two-night stay! Our room was perfect with tons of ambiance and the most amazingly comfy beds! I usually don't sleep very well, but to my surprise the bed cradled me like a nest that was so comfortable that according to my fitbit, allowed me to have more deep sleep than ever before! The breakfast meal was located at their sister "Amherst Inn", just down the street. Once again, I was amazed at the glorious architecture, and Ann showed me around. The chef Pam prepared some wonderful blueberry pancakes with warmed pure maple syrup, which were amazing! During our stay at Allen house, we had some fantastic conversations with both of the owners, and I could go on and on about their hospitality. Without a doubt, I recommend these inns and would go back again in a heartbeat. This stay was like a lifelong dream of mine!"
