"Pros: The hotel itself was beautifully maintained Staff very friendly and hospitable. Room was spacious and beds were comfortable. Great location in walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Quick drive to other businesses. Cons: In our particular room, the vent blew straight onto one of the beds and was bothersome enough we turned off the air when sleeping. The water is so hard. Needed a bottle of lotion after showering, and as a result towels were hard/scratchy too. They def should install a water softener and/or use hard water detergents. However, the water in the area hard, so unless other hotels have one issues would be the same so no stars deducted."
"• We stayed on a Thursday night in late December 2023 (after Christmas). • We didn’t get anything extra when checking in as rewards members like some other places. • We stayed in room 212 which was nice and clean. The layout was a little different as there was a door that divided the 2 queen beds from the sofa bed. • The heating and cooling was also controlled from the 2 queen bed room and not sure how much of the air was circulating to the sofa bed room when the door in between was closed. • Having the door was nice because if someone wanted to stay up later working at the desk or watching TV you wouldn’t disturb those sleeping in other room. • The bathroom was typical of Holiday Inn Express & Suites. Similar lack of hangers or towel rods for all the towels. We usually end up throwing them on the back of the toilet or on the sink counter. • The water pressure here was great for the shower and sink but it seems like the faucet in the shower did not close completely when using the shower head. So you kind of got a foot wash that sprayed out in a weird angle at the same time. It didn’t bother us to much but something to note. If you were careful with shower curtain placement, it did shoot out of the tub and onto the floor. • We didn’t use the fitness center, but we did use the pool. The fitness center we never saw anyone in but there were 2 families in the pool when we arrived, and they both left while we were there. Another family just entered as we were leaving like 20 mins later. There was plenty of room for the 3 families, but I think at 4 you start getting a little tight. • It was a little odd as they started locking the front doors at like 8 or 9PM. So you have to use your key card to get access into the building. Not sure if there have been security issues in the past that force them to make these policies, but we didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary other than it was inconveniencing some guests. • Breakfast was standard as well. I was sad that there were no biscuits and gravy which had been a staple at so many other Holiday Inn Express & Suites on this trip of ours. Also the iconic cinnamon rolls came up just a we were about done with breakfast. • Overall, a great stay for the price. I think this was the best value stay of all the other 7 Holiday Inn Express & Suites we stayed at on this road trip. We would stay here again if we were in the area or passing through."
"The exceptional accommodations of this hotel weren't what encouraged me to write a review on the overall amenities of this establishment. Rather, it was to my surprise that a member of the staff provided me a welcoming first impression and furthered my initiative to return at a later date of visitation due to the zealously outstanding efforts on their behalf. Ensuring that I remained comfortable, appreciated, and provided the pinnacle of customer service, there is one gentleman that I must regard with gracious respect for attending my needs far and beyond the requirements of their duty. This impeccable representation of highly respectable commitment was by none other than a employee of the name, Brandon Reed. If it were not for his determination to include me in this hotel's luxurious provisions for its customers and all that it offers, I may have never recognized one of the most suitable locations for a temporary vacation. I won't dilute this notion with excessive detail as to how or why but what I will say, is that when I do return to this resort vocation; it is him that I desire above all others to still reflect the remarkle service I experienced this day."
"Do not stay here. Not sure what happened, I have stayed before but this most recent visit was a train wreck. The lesson learned: Pick your rate, pick your fate. 1. First room, #220, smelled like chlorine. It was all you smelled was chlorine. I believe it always smells like that and staff just accepts it and doesn't expect customers to complain because they may not travel with their family. However, staff happily gave us another room. 2. Second room, #420, smells like urine. Old urine. The entire room was a locker room at some point, or..... an entire water bottle of urine in the closet! Awesome. How does anyone miss that? My wife was done, I returned to the front desk, AGAIN for another room. 3. Third room, #424, had a smell, but we purchased air deodorants and were too exhausted to find another room or hotel. 4. NO OFFER OF A REDUCED RATE OR REFUND. NOTHING TO MAKE THIS FAILURE AND EXPERIENCE WHOLE FOR THE CONSUMER. More embarrassing is that I am not a tourist, Norfolk is my hometown, we were there visiting my folks, and another bonus, our son is sick after the trip and who's to say if the garbage air contributed? We all have good questions. Next time, we'll just spend more to get more. You pick your rate, you pick your fate. Also, when called to complain, the call was cut off! Well, consumers have a voice and not all capital is cash, some capital is reputation."
"I was an out of town visitor and my stay here was pretty nice. The room we stayed in was pretty and the beds quite comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty and the complimentary coffee was really good. Also enjoyed getting in a good workout in their fitness center. I had to take off one star because our bathroom tub appeared to be a little dirty. There was a ring and long hairs in the tub but luckily I had Clorox wipes. Also the water did not drain properly so there was standing water in the tub while showering. Other than this one incident the hotel is very nice."
