Middleton Park Visitor Centre
“What a fabulous big park for people of all ages .The urban bike park is really good fun to go on whatever your level of cycling (you don't have to do big jumps)This area has a lovely cafe with toilet facilities. Obviously all covid restrictions are in place. Also a place to park your cycles safety near the outdoor seating. We cycled through the woods near the rose garden towards the lake which also has a cafe with seating outside. It also has toilet facilities & covid restrictions. The band stand and a table tennis table is here(I think you have to bring your own bat& ball). The park has car parks but unsure if you have to pay. There are lots of walking and cycling tracks I think you could spend a full day here with children”
Weston Park
“My favourite park in Sheffield. Nestled in between the university and hospitals, it's a lovely place to take a leisurely walk and forget about the days troubles!”
Watermeadows Park
“Beautiful view of the Viaduct. Lovely little walk through the meadows and along the river. Perfect for dog walkers.”
Victoria Park
“Park that has everything. Great water play area for kids, superb cafe near the band stand and an ice-cream and coffee shop at the top end of the park. Skate park with decent ramps for the kids, boulders for climbing, tennis courts, fenced 5 a side pitch, bowling greens, loads of green space, nature trail for walking, big lake with swans and other wildlife, butterfly house and public toilets. Always well maintained and clean. Well worth a visit.”
Hall Lee Bank Park
“It's an awesome place with lovely views and a very peaceful walk along a stream.”
Calderstones Park
“Beautiful park, so vast, lots of great spaces to play with children. Dogs allowed people look after them well. Great cafe and ice cream parlour. Childrens playground spacious and great pond to walk around. So many places to go, such a great place.”
Wepre Park
“The woodland park and Ewloe Castle make a brilliant free day out in the country, with the added bonus of some Welsh history. We went on a soggy day when proper walking boots should have been worn.... the mud was slippy, deep and squelchy. Includes a children's playground, picnic area, cafe and toilet facilities. For free, well worth 5 stars!”
Sefton Park
“A beautiful park, with a bird-filled lake, wide, tree-lined avenues, and a playground. The playground is in need of a bit of tlc, but the kids still love it. The palm house is lovely to visit and have a wonder around, especially in the cold. It's also great for a coffee and cake at the cafe inside, or the van outside when that's closed. The other main cafe in the park is perfect for an ice cream and you can get a bag of duck food there too (also has toilets). It's worth visiting in spring to see the huge fields of daffodils.”
North Wirral Coastal Park
“My place of Zen. I absolutely love here in all of the different seasons. In summer it is just beautiful, the walk to the leasowe lighthouse and to Hoylake and West Kirby is amazing. Great cycle route as well. Swam here last Christmas Day, whilst it was cold it was fantastic to do. It is a place of serenity, fun, peace, relaxation, contemplation, whatever you decide it can be. Keeping it clean is the most important thing though so make sure you take all rubbish away, people are very hot on that deservedly so. Enjoy.”
Wirral Country Park
“A great place to unwind. Nice relaxing atmosphere with a good stretch of beach. Some nice cafés a cycle shop, visitor center as well as a holiday park all near by. Toilets are also available in visitor center, including disabled access if you need that. Paths around are of good quality mostly, access to the beach is via steps, again a good standard typical for beach access, with a rail most of the way up or down. Good carparking in station road. Don't cost too much. Machine although often refuses my card, no idea as it works every where else. Fall back is cash or pay on line / just park app, location code 120864. Charged an extra 2% which is 2p per £1. Still you get a receipt and you can extend your booking when away from the carpark.”
Saughton Park & Gardens
“Since I've moved into the area, this place has quickly become my oasis of peace, it's beautifully maintained, offers many things to do and see, you can relax inside in the garden of tranquility with Gandhi and Big Mother, hold the torch with Dreamer of Peace statue, use the public restroom, get a coffee and snack, feed squirrels, feed on sunshine and flowers and trees, observe birds at a nearby river stream, explore a herb garden, it truly is a gem amongst Edinburgh Parks and my place to go to when I wanna just sit, relax, unwind or read a good book.”
Almondell & Calderwood Country Park
“Several well-defined walks along the side of the river. The area is beautiful and a number of bridges cross over the river and a viaduct, which is stunning.”
Mugdock Country Park
“My only disappointment is that we didn't have enough time to explore the whole park! To do so would probably require an entire weekend. So much to do in one country park and absolutely stunning surroundings. So many nature trails and old castles & ruins you could easily & gladly get lost! Book the BBQs ahead to avoid disappointment (using website or visitor centre) Oh and don't swim in the lochs. Beautiful magical place, you can really feel the history here. We didn't even get to see half of it and so we intend to go back and see the rest! Would definitely recommend for a day out. Enjoy”
Pittencrieff Park
“Visited Dunfermline for the first time, and spent an afternoon walking around this huge park. Lots to see with different areas, woodlands, formal flower beds, a glen with a stream running through, large lawned areas, children's playgrounds and some glasshouses. Grey squirrels can be seen all over the park, and are relatively tame. There's also a restaurant named after the peacocks which have freedom to wander. The park was gifted to Dunfermline for the benefit of it's people by Andrew Carnegie who was born here. There are excellent views over the River Forth, and the Queensferry bridges can be seen in the distance.”
Kielder Water & Forest Park
“Fabulous walks, very well maintained, beautiful scenery, cafes & toilets extremely clean Well worth the visit”
Kelvingrove Park
“Beautiful park/arboretum. Very large. Lots of trees, some of which are very unusual, info given. Beautiful river runs through it too. Lots of seating. The central area is fairly flat, and you can get away with wheelchairs, and you can also walk up various steps to different levels.”
Doe Park Water Activities Centre
“Great facilities Booking on line Swim, dragon boating Canoe Kayak or sailing Staff qualified and knowledgeable Fun kids camps in the holidays.”
Chevin Forest Park
“This is West chevin, a really decent walk, takes about an hour to hour and a half, there are plenty of smaller footpaths to take if you want to go off the main path, plenty of wildlife to see, best time to see the wildlife would be early morning, as this is a popular walk, There is a cafe serving takeaways only, coffees are quite good.”
Roath Park
“Surprisingly big park that had some awesome botanical features/gardens as well as a nice lake and park for the kids. There is an on site cafe, ice cream/dessert/tea shop on site along with an ice cream van on the other side. It was 19 degrees when we went so the park was massively busy although it didn't stop the kids from having fun!”
Cosmeston Lakes Country Park & Medieval Village
“Lovely place to visit. Cafe on site. Plenty of parking. Good dog walking. Play park for children. Some of the walk is on boards over marshland with reeds either side. Disabled friendly. Charge for parking which is quite reasonable”
Victoria Park Playground
“The splash area is big, nice, and well-maintained. The cafe provides cheap foods and beverages.”
Aberdare Park
“Loving the new splash pad this summer. Great fun. Could do with more benches though. The children had lots of fun on a sunny day (ages 7,6,and 4) then to the park afterwards for a play!”
Cassiobury Park Pools
“Great outdoor pools with changing facilities and toilets. Situated in a great location with a cafe, playground and noddy train nearby plus woodland and riverside walks, plenty of fields for running around in and a spacious car park free for the first 2 hours. A great day out for the family.”
Verulamium Park
“The park surrounds st. Albans cathedral. Children's play area with lots of different things to do . A great park for a walk with friends or with your dog. In the distance as you're walking in the park there spectacular view of the park and St Albans cathedral which has lots of history to explore. It's a lovely day out and lots to do in Verulamium park .”
Water Gardens
“Absolutely beautiful, not far from Hampton Court Palace. If you like to walk, cycle or take any form of exercise. Great place of relaxation and tranquility.”
Black Park Country Park
“We loved it! We went for cycling when it was rainy - and super enjoyed it. Not that much people around, lake, too many walking ways, too many people with dogs around. You can also cycle there, but not by the lake where caffe is. Just make sure you will push your bike.”
Stave Hill Ecological Park - TCV
“I have many memories of visiting Stave Hill especially with my dearly departed Yorkshire terrier Ben. Bless him. ”
Hyde Park
“Excellent park! Huge, with lots of things to see and do. Lots of space available, in spite of its popularity and how busy it was, even on a weekday morning. Cycle paths (with bicycle hire available), picnic on the grass areas is possible, larger lake with many ducks, geese and swans. Horse riding tracks, and even a trough. Lots of little memorials and gardens dotted about. Cafes, with toilets, to rest and replenish at. I still have several more attractions and areas to explore there. A great place to relax and spend a few hours, or even pass the day. Whether it's by yourself, with a pet, a loved one, the family or friends. We were fortunate to have a great weather that morning. Ps. You might be lucky to catch the army training their soldiers to ride there some time like we did.”
St James's Park
“Beautiful park with lots of gorgeous views. The borders with plants are so nicely arranged, everything in the park is tidy (no litter on the ground etc). A lot of wildlife feeling comfortable next to the visitors - parrots, gooses, swans, ducks, squirrels. Great playground for children. Nice place to visit.”
The Regent's Park
“What a great social open space, no cycles allowed. Nice wide footpaths. Sports being played, cricket, football and exercises everywhere you looked. Lots of sculptures and things to see, even managed to see the zoo through the trees and got a glimpse of a feeding camal”
