Roath Park
“Surprisingly big park that had some awesome botanical features/gardens as well as a nice lake and park for the kids. There is an on site cafe, ice cream/dessert/tea shop on site along with an ice cream van on the other side. It was 19 degrees when we went so the park was massively busy although it didn't stop the kids from having fun!”

National Trust - Dunster Castle and Watermill Car Park Entrance
“Beautiful!! We have never been to Dunster or the castle before and absolutely loved it. It was a beautiful day, there was so much to see and explore and it was so well looked after. Didn't manage inside the castle but as national trust members we can use our cards to go back again and see inside. So recommend visiting.”

Victoria Park
“Victoria Park is just 1.8 miles from the centre of Cardiff (the Castle). It is easily accessible by bus, train or car. The bus stops near to the entrance and there is plenty of parking in the streets surrounding the park. However, during the summer months the park gets very busy, so you may need to park further away or consider taking public transport. The large park has lots of facilities including a playground for children of all ages. Within the playground there is a zip wire, various climbing frames, slides and round abouts. There is also a bandstand, tennis courts, basketball courts and a beach volleyball area. In the centre of the park there is a secure free splash pool with 2 attendants. The splash pool is very popular so visiting time is limited to 25 minutes per child. Within the park there are pretty flower beds, large trees, Ethan's Dragon sculpture and lots of green space for ball games. This is an ideal location for a picnic, and there is an ice-cream kiosk, the Bloc coffee shop and Mamas Place Cafe to buy reasonably priced chips, hot drinks and snacks. Outside of the park there is the Pettigrew Bakery and lots of restaurants including Red Chill, Nook, Maasis, Nishirath kitchen, Han Sing fish and chips, the Dough Thrower, Pasta Pronto and so on. We would recommend a visit because the park is very clean, is fantastic for everyone and is a cheap day out.”
Apex Leisure & Wildlife Park

Sirhowy Valley Country Park.
“Beautiful setting, perfect for a picnic, dog walking or just chilling. Thoroughly recommended!”
Beechwood Park
“First time back in years, there's a good kids park at the top, the walk in amongst the streams is fun and really pretty. There is another smaller park at the bottom as well. Near the big house at the top is a really nice cafe, and a small shop next door.”

Penarth Cliff Top Park
“Lovely views. Spectacular scenery. A nice restaurant and shop and a lot of the houses opposite have been refurbished and look lovely. The only thing I do miss that is not there anymore is the 9 hole golf putting course that used to there. That seems to be gone now, which is a shame.”
Cardiff Castle
“Really enjoyable visit. The ticket includes the old castle, the house, tunnels and the fire line exhibition. You can download the official Cardiff castle app for a free guidance and history of the Castle and surrounding place. You can also take your own coffee and food and sit for a free inside the Castle on the wooden beaches, or on the grass. I would recommend the place for everyone who is looking for the history of the castle, exploring history of Cardiff.”

The Vale Hotel & Touring Caravan Park
“My holiday was like National Lampoon’s Vacation or carry on Camping but this was no way related to where we stayed. So me and my friend, my daughter and her friend rock up in a motorhome that we have never driven ( 2 ladies, 2 girls). Immediately greeted by the main man of campsite arrivals. Asked about how we fill up our water tank, he was straight on it, done it for us but also showed us how. Sharon came out to meet us, also to check us in. Although happy campers we were welcomed to come into the hotel for a drink if we wanted. The hotel was beautiful, well maintained and cosy and welcoming. I saw food delivered to guests of the hotel and they very much appeared to be enjoying their food. We had several disasters as it turned out we arrived with no gas(or couldn’t figure it out) mentioned it and immediately help was on hand (sorry about your hand) got a little gas for one night. Shower and toilets were clean, only people that let it down is people using it, breaking showers, shoving blue paper towels down the toilet and blocking it. Lovely people, would definitely stay there again. You are welcome In Portsmouth to stay in my humble abode for all the help and welcoming you gave us. Thanks for the help, welcome and information you provided us xx”
Tredegar House Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite
“A beautiful setting the main house is steeped in history and well worth a tour. The grounds are lovely and walking is available to all abilities as its flat all the way around. Christmas is an amazing experience at the house, myself and my family loved this.”
Waterfront Park
“Great car park with a nice view across the bay.”
Victoria Park
“Clean and tidy park. Plenty of places to sit and even a water fountain. My only gripe would be it's not very large, so while dog friendly, might have to do several laps!”
Cardiff Barrage Children's Playground
“Great wall to it. And a great place to take kids of all ages as there is something for everyone in the middle. People in the vale don't enjoy the water as much as they should do. Only addition this could do with is a marked swimming area with some floating diving boards.”
