The Lake Macquarie Variety Playground
“Big, well maintained space with great play equipment. I'd say the best playground in all of Newcastle”
Speers Point Park
“Speers Point Park has got to be one of the best parks in NSW. Great scooter tracks, super tall slide, flying fox, wet and dry areas, shade and seating for parents, and beautiful scenery. Did I mention water views? Great for all ages. We stop here on our way from Sydney to Newcastle for lunch and a play. Always stop too long because we're having too much fun!”
Stuart Chalmers Park
“A beautiful beach to take the whole family. Kids had lots of fun exploring the rock pools and the caves. Definitely want to check the tide times before coming because the caves and rock pools are definitely the highlight of this beach and you don't want to miss out. The beach itself is huge with lifeguards on watch for your safety. The sand was pillowy soft and clean, perfect for building sand castles. There's also a cafe right near the beach entrance if you want to grab a cold drink or ice cream. Also there's lot of picnic tables and also a bbq area right outside the beach entrance if you want to cook some food. The public bathroom is also right there, very modern and clean with lots of cubicles so you won't need to wait in line.”
Parramatta Park
“Terrific place surrounded by very well maintained landscaping, cafes and picnic facilities. I have been a long term user of the park for a few years now and would highly recommend the park for all Fitness Enthusiasts, Cyclists & Nature Loving people.”
Thomas H Halton Park
“Great for little kids. It was packed today. Totally fenced. Good to see the councils are putting more thought and planning into the playgrounds. No pics today I was with toddles and other small children around. But great. 1 issue the what was call the merry go round when I was a kid has been bought back. But it's embedded in the ground and is extremely hard to push. Getting minimal speed up is all but impossible. Nice try but fail.”
Warner Park Playground
“Great playground close to cafes and foreshore. Have never had trouble getting a park in the carpark here. Toilets available. Separate toddler and large play areas. Lots of swings including a tandem toddler/parent swing. Lots of variation of equipment to play on. Fully fenced. 3 under cover picnic tables. Water fountain. Plenty of grass & shade, but the play equipment is in full sun, you'll need hats & plenty of sunscreen. Nice for a walk by the foreshore, grab a coffee then play at the park. Also great for playgroup as equipment caters for babies and older kids. Soft fall flooring for toddler area.”
Webb Park Playground
“Great grassedpark for the kids to run and fantastic equipment for those over energetic little guppies”
Sunshine Park
“Sunshine Park is a beautiful bushland park right on Lake Macquarie. Barbecues and toilets are provided and the local Landcare group has planted lots of native plants to keep it looking fantastic.”
Sails Holiday Park
“We are traveling for 5 months and I must say. This is one of the best caravan parks we have visited what made it particularly enjoyable. Was Lisa who runs the park. Sas such a nice person and so helpful with suggestions for things to do around the area, it made our trip very memorable. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Sails Holiday Park. Shaun of San Francisco California USA”

“The West walking trail takes you down a bit of a secluded path to BEAUTIFUL lake front view. Great for a little break or picnic without the crowd”
Edward Gain Park
“Sitting areas, fishing areas, netted swimming enclosure, amenities available including showers. Cafe open nearby most days. Plenty of docking for boats. Seen many kayaks, SUPs, row boats, speed, fishing and more pull up safely. Enclosed playground nearby.”
Waterloo Park
“Toilets, exercise equipment, basketball court, playground, field, walking path. No overly self-assured Corsicans in my experience.”
Blacksmiths Beachside Holiday Park
“We came for the Newcastle 500 weekend. The caravan park was full but did not feel like it. We had a powered campsite and felt there was plenty of space for our camper trailer, car and sitting. The showers were great. Hot water with good pressure. Very clean amenities. Friendly reception staff. Felt welcome. Close to the beach and lake. Easy access by bus to the Newcastle 500 event (1 hour but free regular buses all weekend). I’d definitely stay here again - maybe for a beachside holiday next time. Photo is sunrise over the bay about 5min walk from park.”
Edwards Park
“This is one of those playground that you love taking your kids too because you can sit there and stare at the lake. It's usually pretty quite as well, which is great for social distancing.”
Wangi Point Holiday Park
“Loved our stay here. What a location! Right on the lake, shady trees, heaps of bird life, great network of walking tracks adjacent to the van park, and cheap drinks at the Wangi Workers Club. What more could you ask for! Thanks to Jo from the office for adding so much to my knowledge of the local area. We will be back!!”
Pendlebury Park
“Beautiful park in a bushland/lake shore setting. Plenty of parking for cars and boat trailers with a nice wide boat ramp with lots of room to manoeuvre. A creek runs off the street into the lake here and often leads to lots of bugs and mosquitoes hanging around. The grass can often be very overgrown but doesnt really impede on the use of the playground and basketball court. There are picnic tables and a public toilet here as well.”
Bennett Park
“Nice little park with plenty of space to roam, and right by the water. Small park for the kids which has just been revitalised. Boat ramp nearby if needed. Plenty of space to kick balls, take a stroll. Not too far from nearby shops - a quiet place to bring your fish and chips. A favourite with the locals. Small amenities block there if required.”
Marks Point Park
“Great spot for lunch, quiet and well shaded. Plenty of flora and fauna too.”
Lions Park
“This is a beautiful little spot to park your cars and enjoy a brilliant walk around the lake with lots of shady trees and a great walk over the bridge that curves around the foreshore. Walk to Warners Bay grab a coffee or lunch and stroll back to the car . Great boatramp here as well.”

“One of our favourite places. Big area for the family and dogs to play. Bbq, beautiful Lake Macquarie. Water sports and just a nice nice place and a great place for kids to climb trees play cricket.”
Macquarie Park
“It’s my favourite place to swim. No big waves to contend with just peaceful running water. There is plenty of parking right near the river, no hauling supplies over long distances required. The sand of the river bank is lovely and clean. Great for sandcastles!”
Tuckwell Park
“Multifunctional Park with good facilities and plenty of parking. Not too windy either considering it's ontop of the hill.”
Grannys Pool
“Cute and safe spot to swim and float around- great for kids and all ages! This place has greatly improved since the council dredging. A calm little sandy spot to enjoy, full of little fish and minimal wash from the channel. No toilet or shower facility. Very easy access from the car park plus an accessible ramp. There a few sharp rocks / debris around so just be careful. Quite packed but pick your timing, sometimes we have it to ourselves!”
