“Just back from a fantastic meal for husbands birthday. Food was amazing one of the best meals we have had out in a long time. The restaurant is very relaxed and welcoming. Service was very friendly and swift. A nice touch in the bathroom; a little wooden box with free feminine hygiene products in was really thoughtful. Will definitely be returning”

“Lovely welcome for our overnight stay by Liz who had also called us the day before to forewarn us that the swimming pool was out of action. Nice touch. Slightly miffed that we had to pay £5 for parking upon booking out; this really needs to be included in the price of the stay so you can correctly compare costs between hotels. They may not own the carpark but nevertheless! Don't forget to add your vehicle registration when booking at Reception...you are reminded. The room was well laid out and very clean; hairdryer , towelling robes, slippers and bathroom items etc supplied. Again very nice touch.”

“My wife rang on Tuesday evening to find if they had any vegan options available for lunch the following day. She was told they didn't but the chef would sort something out for us. So we booked for 3 adults and one infant. We duly arrived Wednesday lunchtime and were presented with a hand written menu giving us the choice of 4 vegan starters and about 6 vegan lunches. Boy. Were we spoiled!!!! My wife and daughter ordered the Sage and onion vegetable cobbler. I had roasted butternut squash with walnuts, cranberries and pine nuts served with sauteed potatoes, onions and peppers. Our grandson had a starter of garlic chestnut mushrooms served on garlic ciabatta. The portions were more than big enough. The value was fantastic, less than £60.00 for 4 including drinks. Bearing in mind that we could have easily been told there were no options for us, the lengths they went to were incredible. We can only highly recommend this establishment. If you do want to visit and try their vegan options, just give them a day or so notice!”

“Absolutely fantastic! Hosted my friends baby shower here and I can’t recommend them enough! So accommodating with budget, decorations, etc unlike other venues! Food was delicious, everyone was catered for and commented on how yummy it was. Cocktails were fab too! Honestly, if you have a party to host or you just want somewhere to go for a coffee…(or something stronger) this is the place to go! Most importantly every staff member was lovely, friendly and helpful! 10 out of 10!”

“An ideal meeting place for a catch up with a friend. We had a table for two in front of a long fire. Very welcome on a freezing day. The food was very good and not expensive given the quality. But the beer was the highlight. Harvey's Bitter from barrels on the counter behind the bar. Properly kept and served. Wish it was my local.”

“This is definitely one of the nicest place I have been to. I have only been there for a meal twice, and can honestly say that I gave never been disappointed with the meals I had. The first time I went there I gad the roast lamb with vegetables, unfortunately when I got there yesterday the only option available was the roast beef, as the Lamb abd Chicken had all gone & boy oh boy! was I glad. The beef was cooked to absolute perfection by Ben (The Owner) I would suggest phoning at 12.00pm (when they open) or a day or two in advance if possible, to book a table , and get there early.. Ben and his staff are extremely pleasant, & can't do enough to make sure you enjoy your experience of eating at his Pub/Restaurant. I would definitely go again. “A really nice friendly pub both guests and staff ,dog friendly, dartboard, pool table, juke box outside garden with a few bit for kids. Also have regular entertainment and plenty of free parking in the gamecock meadow next door if car park full”
