Welcome to the Old Lake Court House, a cherished historical landmark located on South Main Street in Crown Point, Indiana. Established in 1878, this magnificent courthouse stands as a testament to Lake County's rich history and the enduring spirit of community preservation. Thanks to the tireless efforts of dedicated locals, the courthouse was saved from demolition and proudly placed on the National Register of Historical Places on May 17, 1973.
The Lake Court House Foundation, Inc., established in 1975, continues to play a pivotal role in maintaining and preserving this iconic building for future generations. Governed by an 18-member board, the foundation is committed to both the restoration of the courthouse and the celebration of community events. From our annual Patriot Brunch to elegant wedding ceremonies and receptions, the Old Lake Court House serves as a vibrant hub for memorable experiences and gatherings.

"No more public restrooms really? Went there last month and was told restrooms are for the employees only .Ok I'll shop somewhere else."
"How does a public place have no public restroom….we took our young grand kids to see the shops and buy a few things. But had to leave since there are no restrooms! Ugh"
"Great place to find some hidden shops that you will find some great gifts and items for yourself too. Inside the Historic Court House are shops and a Ramen Restaurant. You can park on the Square right in front of the door that accesses the shops, or anywhere around the Square. The shops are just a few steps down (there is a railing). Also there is an elevator from the front entrance if you need or want one instead. I included a photo below of the elevator. There is also rest rooms available located near the elevator as well. In the hallway for the holidays it is decorated for the holidays and there are Santa visits for children. I included below photo of Santa's hours and chair. The Antique Vault has vintage vinyl records and also cds, videos, record players and more. The Little Pink Shop has lots of really cute gifts and clothes. I saw a candy shop and also a Toy store and more. Worth stopping by."
